Nylon Sky are an Alternative/ Rock/ UK Hip Hop band.
The band consists of three members, Tony Humphries (vocals),Tom Vernon (guitars) and Stuart Brooker (drums).
For the past three years, the band have focused on promoting their music through live performances.
In 2007 they won Amphishock, Battle of the Bands. The following year they went on and made it to the final of Surface Unsigned Festival at Birmingham Carling Accademy. With Tommy V winning best lead guitarist.
That year they also took the stage at Guilfest.
Nylon Sky have a known reputation for their raw performance and interaction with the crowd.
Now they are focusing on writing, recording and playing new material.
Nylon Sky - Guilfest Ben Sherman Stage, Friday
Legions of enthusiastic young fans packed out the Ben Sherman tent to watch an energetic and intensely passionate set from rock and hip-hop trio Nylon Sky.
Although 18-year-old singer Tony Humphries had been battling illness in the run-up to the show, the hundreds of fans who had gathered knew all the words to their catchy songs and belted the choruses right back at him.
The born performers relished every spotlit minute of their half-hour set, with spectacular guitar solos by 17-year-old Tom Vernon and drumming from Stuart Brooker which belied his 17 years.
Their accomplished sound and polished performance won the Fetcham trio new fans in the passers by, and the charismatic frontman, evidently already a firm favourite with their female followers, left a fair few broken hearts in his wake.

Nylon Sky are like a combination of Rage Against The Machine and CKY with an emphasis on the word ‘like’, because originality is a concept that makes bands worth listening to. The songs were involving and you found yourself listening rather than being consumed by the music. What makes Nylon Sky so different? They don’t have a bassist. Surely the band would suffer without such a crucial instrument? They don’t. They played like they were already headlining the Surface Unsigned Festival in September.
Sunday June 8th 2008 @ The Purple Turtle, London Words by Dominic Nicholls Stage 2 Showcase
With a lone guitar, drums and Tony’s voice as their only three instruments you had to wonder how they were going to build a sound that could ever get away from the bare essentials style of The White Stripes. But build a sound they did. Presumably there was some sort of synth box up their mixed in with the effects pedals because their music had scale to it, aided and abetted by guitarist Tom’s wild antics and crowned with the talents of Tony’s rapping. He’s clearly a talented wordsmith, touching and heartfelt with a cheeky bravado that added the all-important originality to their set.
Monday August 4th 2008 @ The Dome, London Words by David Couchman Stage 3 Semi-Final
The whole crowd rushed the stage. It was a beautiful display of the power of music and the potency of Nylon Sky’s angry rock/rap. Lead singer Tony took it all in his stride and carried on unfazed. There was an invisible line that no one dared cross lest they spoil the exquisite moment.
Saturday August 30th 2008 @ The Dome & Boston Music Rooms Complex, London Stage 4, Regional Final Words by David Couchman
“Are you ready?” The famous last words, before we plunge into oblivion. My job, nay my mission, is to describe the inexplicable tingling in your spine; to explain away the confusion of ecstasy that envelopes the brain, transforming your average audience member into nothing better than a vegetable. I am the voice of reason to those who lose their minds in the vehement potency of Nylon Sky. So crack your f**king neck and fight the power. We have the strength.
Saturday September 13th 2008 @ The Birmingham Carling Academy 1 (Main Stage) Stage 5 - National Final Words by Stephen Hudyba
Next up was Guilford/London based Rap/Rock three-piece Nylon Sky. They have written some angsty yet clever tracks delivered half-sung half-rapped by excellent front-man Tony. In between their songs he engaged the crowd with charismatic banter and due praise for the other bands, yet when the music starts he delivers an unparalleled level passion and intensity – you can tell he's not just going through the motions but rather wholeheartedly believes every word and thrives off performing. They are a little raw around the edges but if anything it adds to their appeal, there is nothing worse than this kind of music finely polished and soulless – and these guys are a shining example of how Rap-Rock should be done.
