Nypan/Klingen sextet plays music written by Øyvind Nypan and Mari Klingen. Nypan provides most of the melodies and arrangements while Klingen comes up with the lyrics. The two leaders have known each other for some years, but this is the first time they work together as a unit.
After playing different styles and experimenting with modern music, they both started to take a look back and knew they wanted to do standard material, but with their own tunes and in their own way. The music is still in the american jazz-tradition, but it also includes the european approach to the music. This is the result of this.
The perfect background to your daily pleasures (...) Melody-filled, ethereal and very rich; it's a soundtrack to an imaginary adventure with romance, drama, chases and a happy ending piped in from the 60s.
