NY Young Republican Club's Interests

| General | General meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month, at the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmens Club, located at 283 Lexington Ave (bet 36th & 37th St), 2nd Floor. However, you should always check the website in case of any changes. The meetings run from 7:30pm to 9:30pm and we always go for drinks afterward. Professional attire is requested.
The Club also organizes a variety of special events, including policy debates that we co-sponsor with local Democrat organizations, and book events for conservative authors. We participate in street fairs in order to register new voters and help spread the Republican message. About me:
Thank you for your interest in the New York Young Republican Club. Formed in 1911, the New York Young Republican Club is the oldest and most prestigious Young Republican Club in the country. This Club was formed to give young professionals an opportunity to get more involved in the political process, to learn about and debate the issues of the day, and to take a more active role in promoting issues and to fight for good government - regardless of who holds office.
As a member, you will have the opportunity to attend monthly meetings where you will meet other young professionals - from a variety of different backgrounds but with similar beliefs - to discuss the issues that matter. And you will get to hear some of the most prominent and interesting speakers in the country.

Who I'd like to meet:
A Young Republican is any registered Republican under the age of 40. The New York Young Republican Club is for young adult professionals, but is open to anyone who supports the Club and its efforts. We welcome anybody who wishes to see us succeed in our campaign for better government and more active and informed participation in the political process.
A person who identifies with the Republican party usually believes the following:
1. That respect for every person's individual rights is the foundation this country is built on.
2. That power, even in the hands of responsible legislators, is a corrupting influence; therefore it is necessary to restrain the power government has over the individual.
3. That every individual has the right to exercise their individual rights so long as that exercise doesn't infringe on the rights of another.
4. That every person has the right to control their own destiny, free from government coercion, and has the right to enjoy the fruits of their labor without judgment, manipulation or constraint.
5. That the Bill of Rights was written explicitly to protect the rights of the individual from the coercive power of government, and that each of the 10 amendments is equal in significance and importance.
6. That each person has the right to own property, to control the destiny of that property, or to seek appropriate compensation if that land is restricted in any way through the coercion of government.
7. That each person has ownership and control of that which they create.
That free enterprise and the existence of corporations are neither inherently good nor bad; but serve a necessary function in the creation of wealth and prosperity in America.
