Nate is interested in finding any Blues (or non-Blues) songs/artists against Violence (or stopping violence). In particular, Men's Violence against Women and Children.
White Ribbon Day was started by a men's movement in Canada in 1991 and has been officially adopted by the United Nations as its International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. It was introduced to New Zealand by UNIFEM (United Nations Development Fund for Women) and now many activities are run around the country to promote the day.

In a healthy relationship people feel:
* loved
* trusted
* respected
* safe *
We all need to know about healthy relationships, how we can make our own relationships better and how to support those around us to live free of violence.
When family relationships are working well, all members benefit. In healthy relationships people:
* Say more positive things than negative things. * Give
each other encouragement.
* Don't undermine each other with constant criticism
* Tell each other when things are going well.
* Make room for each other's views, even when you
disagree.
* If something matters to one of you, it matters to
everyone in the family
* Express affection. * Show this in lots of ways -hugs
or spending time together having fun.

Harmonica Masters of New Zealand
A selection of some of New Zealand's finest harmonica players and their songs on one album. Such a compilation has never been attempted before. These players are gigging at local pubs, performing at the many festivals around New Zealand, supporting high profile overseas acts, or touring the world as ambassadors for New Zealand music.
Each player has their own style and though today the harmonica is mostly associated with blues and country music, there are funk, rock, Irish and folk influences to be heard on this album.
From the country to the city, these are the roots of New Zealand music and the Masters of Harmonica.

Heres what people are saying (in no particular order) about The Blues Room radio show and it's host Nate Taiapa.
AWESOME!
Phil Grey
General Manager
Community Radio Hamilton
Nate, on behalf of your listeners from this little city north of the Bombay hills, thank you. Without your Blues Room, the world would be a darker place. Your show has brought joy to many listeners and a voice for some who would otherwise be “overlooked” by commercial radio.
You are a champion of roots music here in Aotearoa. Thank you also for your support of our band and it was great to have you as a guest on the Harmonica Masters of New Zealand album. Long may you donate your talents to community radio in the Waikato. Long live The Blues Room!
Without shows like The Blues Room on Community Radio Hamilton and guys like Nate Taiapa our band would really have to play blues more than we already do. It's been through grass roots efforts like Nate's show 'The Blues Room' that keep small and large bands alike playing American music alive over seas.
Jason Ricci and New Blood would other wise have a
very hard time getting heard in New Zealand without The Blues Room on Community Radio Hamilton and we are Blessed to have had their help!
Jason Ricci
I just want to thank you for the great work you do, spreading the gospel of the blues with your awesome program, The Blues Room.
You should be commended for showing people that there is a world beyond the mainstream and that this world is pretty wonderful.
God bless you and thanks for keeping the blues
alive.
Regards,
Albert Castiglia (guitarist for Junior Wells)

Dear Nate,
Thank you for doing such a tremendous job in your effort to keep the art form known as "The Blues" available for everyone to hear!
My grandfather, Willie Dixon, would be proud to know that your hard work is making this possible. You definitely have the support of Dixon Landing Music.
Kind Regards,
Alex Dixon

The support of you and your blues show, Nate, for home-grown, NZ blues is critically important for Kiwi blues artists like me. By passionately presenting a genre of music which is overlooked almost entirely by both commercial radio and state owned radio, your show and a few others in NZ is the one 'conduit' for fans to hear about local acts, CDs, tours, etc. Over the ditch, in Australia, where there is a different funding/compliance environment, there are many such shows but there is a real shortage of blues shows this side of the Tasman. For me, airplay is really important, because most of my CD content is original material, so it's not just NZ musicianship - but NZ songs, too!
I value the way you ALWAYS feature a high percentage of local music in your playlists - and the fact that you email playlists to local artists when you feature a cut from one of their albums. You're a gem - wish there were more of you!
Kind regards
Mike Garner
"Nate, thanks a million for your efforts in helping spread the word about blues music, which as we know is the heart and soul of popular music. All the best to you and The Blues Room, and my best wishes for your continued success in 2008"

Above is an interview of Nate and the Manager of Community Radio Hamilton, Phil Grey, on local TV.
On the evening of Saturday May 3, 2008, the stars of New Zealand radio came together to celebrate the best radio broadcasting performances of the past year. The NZ Radio Awards at Sky City is one of Auckland's most glittering functions and 2008 marked the 30th anniversary of these awards.
The Blues Room was a finalist for THE BEST ACCESS MUSIC PRORAMME award ... WOOHOO!!! Although the award was taken home by Leopold Bloom for Sounds Of The Planet (Fresh FM Nelson), Nate thoroughly enjoyed the awards ceremony and party that followed. Watch his photo album for pics of the event.
The Blues Room is an access radio programme broadcast LIVE each Wednesday from 9pm to 10.30pm(NZ) on
Community Radio Hamilton, New Zealand. In Hamilton city and some of broader Waikato you can tune in on AM1206 and FM106.7
As well, you can tune in online LIVE no matter where in the world you are at
www.communityradio.co.nz (once there, click the 'LISTEN ONLINE' tab).
It was John Lee Hooker who once said that "the blues is a story." Well in the Blues Room Nate makes it his business to play a variety of blues grooves, each with a story of their own, so that the story of the blues remains alive and honored. You'll get to hear recently released blues from around the globe, old classics and fresh local New Zealand blues too.
Thank-you to the many artists, distributors and record labels and listeners for supporting The Blues Room. Thanks to Community Radio Hamilton manager, Phil, for his awesome support and vision.
Willie Dixon said, "the blues are the roots, everything else is the fruits." Nate serves it all up in The Blues Room - Blues Roots and Fruits!
I love the songs on this playlist. Every single song is so beautiful. It's a pleasure to listen to this music. I hope you like this playlist too. Any comments would be appreciated.
