37TH Annual OLYA Awards Banquet
A Success
In keeping with the OLYA spirit, the organization did not let technical difficulties get in our way as we celebrated our annual banquets at Dugan's Restaurant. LeVan White and the Banquet Committee did a fantastic job of putting on our event this year.
We would like to say thank you to State Senator Leanna M. Washington for her contributions and continued support for our organization. We would also like to thank Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey for stopping by the event.

In Our Thoughts and Prayers
The Board of the OLYA asks that we all keep Coach Frank Wilbourne in our thoughts and prayers as he recovers from a serious car accident. Coach Frank is in ICU at Einstein Hospital. He is pretty banged up from his accident, and is currently on a ventilator, but has a good prognosis and is expected to recover in time.

..Oak Lane Family In Need ..
.. The OLYA Board is asking that you consider making a contribution to a family member, the Armstrong's who recently lost their home and possessions in a fire. We will be accepting donations for them on Tuesday, March 18th at 7:00 PM at Simons Recreation Center. The family consisting of James and Jahbree could use clothes items in the following sizes: Shirts Men's XL and 4XL, Pants 32X30 and 44X32, Sneakers in size 10 and 11. Cash donations are also welcome.

Finley Recreation CTR has a summer camp. Which will start June 23rd through August 15th 8am till 3pm, $150 each encampment [2 week encampments] Registration begins March 12, 2008

Congratulations
The OLYA extends its congratulations to Sean Singletary and his family for his being selected by the NBA's Sacramento Kings in the 2008 NBA Draft after a stellar career at the Univ. of Virginia. Sean was a longtime member of our organization, participating in several of our programs. Sean's athleticism and skill always made him a contributor to his teams, but his leadership, sportsmanship and citizenship made him a terrific teammate. We are proud to say he is an Oak Lane Wildcat.
