Picked up Keith Olbermann's "Truth and Consequences". An easy but powerful, powerful read. Olbermann is a true hero of the Bush years. (besides Stewart/Colbert of course)

Batik is an ancient art of applying paraffin resist and colored dyes to fabric, usually cotton or silk. I learned while I was in the Peace Corps in Uruguay and quickly became fascinated by the process. I'm an engineer by training, and I've started to use this more in my art, using mixed media and wood to create three-dimensional structural and truss components to layer over the batik. I've been focusing more on the figure, and am exploring the motion of dancers, aerial artists, and workmen through the objects that connect them. Mostly just fun !
Batik is about the process - the colors bleed, the wax drips, lines are missed and the dyes spill- but I do not believe there are mistakes in batik, and the results can be erratic and fascinating as each design unfolds.
MOVIE: Below, my first foray into movie editing, filmed in Kauai while on vacation, a song about the goddess Pele written & sung by torch vocalist, Tara Linda. We shot some beautiful scenery to illustrate her wonderfully poetic lyrics.
Hi John! Long time no see. Will be great to have you in attendance at the GAMH; we're looking forward to it! Hope to see you & Linda for a real visit some time soon. It's been too long!
