Oakwilde Records is an independent record label based in Los Angeles, California. Initially founded by friends first, Tim Jones, Bonnie Froman and Kara Wolke, we came together to release a solo record for Tim (former front man of roots rockers, Old Pike, whose roster included current members of My Morning Jacket, Roguewave, and the producer of The Fray). As a growing Indie, though, Oakwilde quickly encountered some changes… as, in hindsight, we see we should have expected…

In the midst of recording Tim’s solo effort, he got swooped away with his band – Truth & Salvage Company – by a major (Silver Arrow Records, through Sony/Megaforce Records). Quietly reluctant, yet insanely happy, Bonnie and Kara watched Tim fly away to record T&S Co.’s debut album with Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes. In August, we saw him off to tour the country supporting the Crowes on their Fall Tour. While missing his presence dearly, we’re so proud that we’re not scared to divert a little bit of attention to the T&S Co. boys… in fact, we hope you’ll take a moment (after reading this, of course) to check out www.truthandsalvageco.com.

In the meantime, though, we never lost sight of our vision to use this label to further our vision of supporting our family of incredibly talented Los Angeles-based songwriters and musicians – most of whom we have found and fallen in love through the Hotel Café in Hollywood, California. And we were lucky enough to pluck from the bunch our dear friend and brother, Sal Leonardo.

An established heartbreaker and disgustingly gifted songwriter with a gut-wrenching voice, (and a killer piano player!), Sal quickly filled the gritty void our dear Tim left behind. And like many a foxy chick in L.A., Oakwilde decided we just had to have Sal. So Bonnie and Kara courted/manipulated their dear Brother Sal heavily with margaritas and Mexican food… until soon he was ours! (But that’s not to say he’d be so easy for you other ladies...) : )

The rest became a quick history… Oakwilde will release Sal’s first solo record, Blood & Dust, on September 4, 2009, with a fitting blowout at the Hotel Café in Los Angeles, California… where it all started. We hope to see you all there!! Seriously, stop us – Bonnie or Kara – to say HELLO …We LOVE to say HI and buy strangers drinks!! (but only on September 4, 2009…)
