Ed Munafo on Guitar and Vocals. Ed has been playing bluegrass for many years and brings his broad repertoire, rich vocals, and flatpicking guitar solos to the group. "Hard Drivin' Eddy" as we call him, has worked with Urban Renewal Bluegrass in Minneapolis, guitarist Pete Kairo, and is a Minnesota Academy of Music Award Winner.
Obi's Boys are:
Mark Evans on Banjo, "English" Concertina, and Vocals. Mark is from North Carolina and a trained opera singer who is turning back to his roots on banjo and concertina. Mark is known affectionately by us as "The Squeeze". He's a great singer and banjo player and will dazzle you with his concertina playing too. Among the many great songs Mark brings to the group, his rendition of Amazing Grace will leave you breathless!
Gary Fisher on Bass and Vocals. Gary is the ever steady bottom end, and is a great bass player too. In addition to keeping the beat, his rich baritone is at home with country and western, rock or bluegrass music giving the group another musical texture to experiment with. Gary has been playing for 30 years and when he's not performing with Obi’s Boys or Freewheelin’, he's working on restoring his old Greyhound bus that he's turned into a luxury camper.
Tom Healy on Mandolin. Tom plays Bill Monroe style mandolin with his own slant of inventive solos. He can play it sweet, with a twang, or he can play it with drive. His style is rooted in Bluegrass, Celtic, and Traditional Jewish music. In addition to Obi’s Boys, Tom performs with the group Levite. If you like good mandolin playing come see him burn it up on that thing.
