* EXPLONTOI - 3RD WORLD SICKNESS Filippino soldier's for peace and freedom living in a state of coup 'de ta where warlords and militia sects run there country. A tight, solid crust band on point from the first track "Hialuna", Explontoi rips through 7 songs with deep tones, grovel vocals, bombastic drumming, thick bass lines and a chunky guitar make the line up solid. The music reminds me of a Nausea meets Resistant Culture. This 7 song LP is amazing crust with a metal edge that is the next big thing in this arena. They play shows in there village to feed the village and run there own chapter of "Food Not Bombs". So help them help there countrymen. * OR.04 BIG BANG THEORY - "The lowest common denominator" EP 1999 + "Astronomical Proportions" EP. 2001 - Vern Obnoxious's turn of the millenia brainchild along side brother Chris (japs) Varney. The line up consisted of some of the most talented musicians in Detroit with Vern on guitar / vox, Japs on bass, Shawn Warrow (from Strange Bedfellows) on guitar and Steve Kearns (of ASD, Rude Awakening) on drums. This ep is more reminescent of bands like Mission of Burma, Husker Du & The Replacements to know holds barred shredding hardcore more along the lines of a Blanks 77 and Bristles. A very versatile Detroit punk rock record. Incredible song writing from both Varney brothers made this record some of the most original punk rock in the Detroit underground. Unfortunately this would be the last recording for the brothers in Big Bang Theory. RIP Christopher Shannon Varney 12/16/1976 - 06/18/2006.

*OR.09 KLUSTERFUX - "Hell's our Home" LP 1995 release is a series of recordings from a few different recording sessions. This is a dynamic hardcore crust trio that decimated Detroit's scene when everyone went "Rancid" crazy in the mid 90's. Ska & anthem oi was the flavor of the year with bands like SUICIDE MACHINES at the top of the punk scene in Detroit and Swingin Utters & Blanks 77 was the trend. This explosive trio went further underground hitting various studio's cranking out pogo punk to staright out stripped to the bone hardcore crust. This band was on top of there game in the mid 90's when the punk scene was smothered under Indie hippie bullshit here in Detroit. This CD is just fucking fun, period. Jam this shit and it takes you back in a time machine when punk was raw, dirty with social and political agendas that are comletely digestable.

This event is more then just any old benefit it hits home! Squirrel the lead singer of THE CAVITY CREEPS is a person living with kidney disease which left him with his kidneys shutting down in Oct-2006 and now has dialysis 3 times a week for 5 hrs each time just to stay alive!!!!

I was bored one day and tried to see if I could edit to some degree a video and synch it up to one of our songs and this is what I came up with for your consumption. It's a tad boring but I think it gave me the tools to create something decent in the future. This is "One Way Trip" off the 2007 anthology "From Chaos to Whenever" with Rob Vandermass on guitar. He is captured in a still pic. It may be shite but it was fun to give it a try.

hello there vern i am doing pretty well. we are all ok out here. no worry . , being a law enforcement is real sucks lot's of complicated things from my other side. i mean from our scene., from our heart the we love and from our ideology. but i have no choice . i have to work for the money so that i could help my parents and my coming family and my son.
all i really do is i didn't use to take is seriously to merge my work and my scene. i have to seperate my profession from what i really love (the punk/hc scene) still i am ose before and after. nothing fucking change.
still organizing gigs and stuff and food not bombs.
inviting and encouraging new kids to be part of our scene.
