About me: Obscene began as a response to the lack of nights in Edinburgh pushing forward local, home-grown talent. Having both been attending drum and bass nights religiously since the age of 15, promoters Alice Will and Krishma Bachoo decided it was time to be more than just bystanders of the Scottish drum and bass scene. With both promoters only 17 years old, Wednesday 13th February 2002 saw Obscene launched at La Belle Angele, one of the capital's best loved underground nightclubs.
Although meant to be a one-off party, the night was a runaway success, pulling in the the largest week day crowd the nightclub had seen. Obscene enjoyed a happy spell at La Belle Angele until it was unfortunately burnt down at the end of 2002 in the Grassmarket fire .
Obscene was lucky enough to move to The Venue, another of Edinburgh's finest clubs where we enjoyed rinsing it out until June 2006 when it was closed down. Needing a new home AGAIN, Obscene moved to the basement of Club Ego & continued running monthly till Dec 2007.
Since our first night at La Belle Angele, Obscene has been involved with almost every drum and bass crew in Scotland. Along with our involvement and dedication in helping to promote scottishdrumandbass.com and hosting the infamous Obscene Bambu bar sessions, which saw almost every local drum and bass dj come down and do battle, Obscene has been at the forefront of pushing new talent in Scotland.
Obscene now runs on a one-off basis due to the crew's other many commitments & projects. Don't fret though as all our residents still play out regulary in Edinburgh & beyond & we will still be hosting events as & when we have the time. Keep checking back for details of our next project!
Obscene has proved there is a market for a locally orientated drum and bass night and the rest as they say is history.

we've played a lot of different takes on dance music over the months, but for the last one we wanted to book straight up party DJs that we knew would have the place jumping. we've been thinking about it a long time and done just that-

Expect Baltimore Club, Ballie Funk, Hip-Hop, Bassline, Dancehall, Booty Bass, Electro Crunk, Ghetto Gutter House and other made up genres; and if all this isn't enough we're rolling in the Big Toes, 15k, badboy sound system for the occasion. If you've been down before you'll know what to expect, if not, come before you miss the chance. This is going to be one mother of a party.
