Obzidian formed in late 2001 when Baz (Guitars), Paul (Drums) and Jeffsy (Bass) who had known each other since the start of high school, formed the basis of the band. Two vocalists, both of whom played ryhthm guitar played with the band consecutively over the next 4 years, but it was in spring of 2006 that Baz decided to take over the role of lead and ryhthm guitars alone for a cleaner more groove driven sound and Matty J was added as a single vocalist.
The band have played extensively around the midlands area, centred on their Stafford base. Over the years they have broadened their horizons with gigs in: Leicester, Birmingham, Sheffield, Derby, Warrington, Manchester, Preston, Blackpool, etc and are currently working towards both english and european summer festival dates in the coming months.
Although ultimately aiming to promote their original material, they are versatile enough to play a full set of either originals or classic rock/metal covers usually a mixture of the two, introducing audiences gradually to their progressive, groove based metal original songs of powerful vocals, screamingly fast guitar solos and driving, thunderous bass/drum rhythm section.
In March 2007 the band signed a deal with Casket Records, and they are all hoping this will be the next step for them and help get their music into the right venues and shops and into the hands of the people who matter, metal fans.
The new album is now released through Casket and available at HMV stores, Play.com, Amazon.co.uk and many other internet stores.
Heavy stuff last night guys! Thanks for playing an intensely powerful set. Looking forward to listening to the cd. Photos should be up soon and we'll catch you again here in Brum in December.
