Clockwork Illusion began in 2007 when Chen Xi (guitars) and Matt Di Giordano (guitars/synth/vocals) and began their vision of epic progressive powermetal influenced by bands such as Symphony X, Dream Theater, and Within Temptation. Mary Shurtz became their first singer and they did their first show: Rockstock in Provo.
Soon after, the band aquired Jeremy Carter on drums, who brought in his cousin Kyler Stoneman on bass, while Mary left the band. Following Mary's departure, Jin Stephens (now Di Giordano) came in on violin and Lennika Johnson, who was majoring in opera performance, also stepped in completing the lineup. After several months of shows in Utah county, Jeremy and Lennika both moved out of the area and it was time to re-group once again.
Kyler brought in Tyson Nordgren to take over the drums, and after several shows the band aquired Jordan Jennings on keyboards and is now writing new material booking shows, and getting ready to record in the next couple of weeks.
Hey Matt. I just checked out "A Vampire's View", that Battlelore song(I don't remember the title), and "Dreams and Pyres". I thought the first song was way amazing. The vocals were maximum gnarly, and it did sound very vampiresque. Especially the part where there's some interesting piano stuff going on near the end of the song. Anyways, it's great. I didn't care to much for the Battlelore song to be honest. I thought it sounded fairly average, but on youtube the sound quality of that song didn't sound very good I thought. Maybe it'd be better on the CD. The Falconer song was way good too. It doesn't seem like something I would imagine them doing, but it was still way awesome. Anyways, that's what I thought about the songs. Tomalo facil...?haha
Hey Matt. How's it going? I hope you're well. I'm happy to hear that you dug the new song. I'm pretty happy with it myself. It's true, the ending of it was pretty epic. haha. I'll be here up through the very end of August, assuming I can get my loans out, which I should do tomorrow. I'll give you a call tomorrow and see what's up. Take it sleasy.
Ah yes yes I see. It'll be good to see you guys too. We are moving to Boston in July. We leave on tour July 24 if you guys want to come. It will be more of an acoustic experience rather than full blown electric shit but still. If your interested awesome, if not that's totally cool too. Its a piss load of money for hotels food merch... etc.
For sure for sure. We actually thought we were playing Thursday with you guys. Our good friend Jake Haws from Muse in Provo wanted us to play on the 23 with Grand Cross and I'm pretty sure he said your group as well. Either way, it's always good to make friends. If we jam Thursday that would be super cool, if not, also cool. We should definately book a show together another time. Good luck writing and rehearsing.
wow i love how the track sounds with your new lady singer, what an amazing voice, i think that you all have great potential to create really epic and awesome music, keep up the good work.
