Occultus fut fondé en 2004 à la suite du split de Latro..üs
par Crom (guitares) et Arkwolf (batterie). Le but initial du groupe
était de promouvoir un black metal lourd et puissant, dépourvu
de l’aspect symphonique propre à Latro..üs et de fonder
l’esprit et les paroles sur l’essence même de l’obscurantisme
des sociétés anciennes.
Après une année de composition, Mesys (guitares) rejoint le
combo. Quelques mois plus tard, Fearann entra dans le groupe
en tant que chanteur, conférant alors une homogénéité dans
l’ensemble des compos. Puis, pour des raisons personnelles
Crom décida de quitter le quatuor. En juin 2006, la première
démo d’Occultus «Erichthô’ fut enregistrée et distribuée
quelques mois plus tard sous forme de cassettes (Noires
Litanies Productions / Legion of Death Records) et de CD-R.
Le groupe se consacra ensuite pleinement à l’élaboration de
son premier album –Inthial. Au cours de la période de
composition, Occultus fit ses premières armes sur scène lors
du Chaos Legion Fest I à Tours, en compagnie d’Inquisitor et
d’Angmar. A cette occasion, Nacht rejoignit le trio comme
bassiste de session. L’atmosphère sombre et malsaine qui se
dégagea du concert encouragea les membres à poursuivre
leur travail en vue d’autres concerts.
En mai dernier, Inthial fut enregistré et mixé à l’Echoes Studio
par Raphaël Henry puis masterisé au Master Lab par Neb Xort.
Fin de l’été 2008, l’album ainsi que le visuel du CD étant achevés,
il s'apprete à sortir chez Unsight Productions / Drakkar Productions pour début 2009

Occultus was created in 2004 by Crom (guitars) and Arkwolf
(drums) after Latro..üs split up. The first purpose was to promote
a powerful black metal without the symphonic aspect of
Latro..üs and to base the spirit and the lyrics on the very
essence of ancient societies obscurantism.
After a year of composition, Mesys (guitars) joined the group
and a few months later Fearann, as a singer, imparted
homogeneity to the compositions. Then Crom decided to leave
the quartet for personal reasons. In June 2006 Occultus recorded
their first demo “Erichtô”. It was distributed on tapes (Noires
Litanies Productions/ Legion of Death Records) and CDRs.
Then they fully devoted themselves to the elaboration of the
first album “Inthial”. During that period, Occultus played their
first gig at the Chaos Legion Fest I together with Inquisitor and
Angmar. On this occasion, Nacht joined the trio on live bass.
The dark and sick atmosphere emanating of the show encouraged
the members to carry on with work with other shows in mind.
Last may “Inthial” was recorded and mixed by Raphaël Henry at
Echoes Studio, then mastered by Neb Xort at Master Lab. By the
end of the summer 2008, the album and the artwork are finished,
it will be release on Drakkar Productiobs / Unlight Productions during spring 2009
