About OceanCats

OceanCats is Alejandra Pedraza (born in Colombia) and Christopher Orcutt (born in Minneapolis). An independent duo formed in 2008 with a post-punk psychedelic vibe. Christopher plays drums and creates synthetic loops live, while Alejandra plays vibrant notes of unconventional analog sound, that contrast with her sweet yet gutsy voice. Alejandra is a native Spanish speaker, which leads to the use of English and Spanish in their songs. OceanCats like to be experimental with their sound and enjoy exploring the possibilities the analog and digital world have to offer.

OceanCats released their debut album in October of 2009.

La musica de OceanCats es una mezcla de post-punk y sicodelia. La banda surgio en el 2008 en Minneapolis y esta conformada por Alejandra Pedraza de Bogota, Colombia (bajo/voz) y Christopher Orcutt de Minneapolis, MN(bateria, sintetizador/voz). El toca la bateria, al mismo tiempo que crea loops en vivo mientras ella hace sonar el bajo caracterizado por su distorsion lograda de forma analoga. Su sonido es poco convencional; sus letras, a veces en ingles, a veces en espanol, son el resultado de el encuentro de las culturas de los miembros de la agrupacion.

OceanCats lanzo su debut album en Octubre del 2009, que consta de una compilacion de 8 canciones.Este album fue grabado en equipo analogo en cinta magnetica de 2 pulgadas. El disco esta disponible a la venta en internet.
