   About Ochre

Purchase Ochre Music:

You can also purchase 320kbps mp3s and lossless FLACs directly from me through the Ochre Download Store.

Benbecula venture South over Hadrian's Wall once more to bring one of the most wonderfully written and melodic pieces of electronica to grace these shores. Ochre aka Christopher Leary, first came to the public's attention via his album for Toytronic in 2004 entitled A Midsummer Nice Dream. During that time and up until autumn 2005, he has offered a steady output of remix work and compilation appearances via the likes of Subvariant, Boltfish, Audiobulb, Igloo and Unschooled.

Where the Toytronic album was a 'best of' collection of older recordings spanning a couple of years, the album Lemodie for Benbecula, is an especially commissioned body of work.

Ochre's take on the electronic format takes the medium to its melodic limit, with an orchestral feel and precision that would challenge the best contemporary traditional composers.

Benbecula once again embraces the advance of music within a medium. Rather than pushing the noise envelope via the technology available, Ochre expertly demonstrates that the most complex of compositions can be realised in a human and organic way via technology, possibly more than anyone before him.

News

Apart from residual stock floating about in the odd retailer's inventory, Lemodie has now completely sold out. If you can track down a copy, and have yet to secure one, then act quickly! I'd like to thank everyone who bought a physical copy, reaffirming my faith in music lovers and quelling my fears about the humble CD format. Obviously, if you'd happily make do with an mp3 edition, then there is still plenty of mp3 stock available. ;) On the other hand, if you're at a complete loss and unable to track down any more physical copies, then sit tight and cross your fingers for a repress.

Visit ochremusic.com for more downloads, blog, forum, news, reviews and interviews. Please contact me through my website for a prompt reply; I sometimes overlook messages here due to the amount of spam I end up having to sift through (sorry!), and I'm logging in here less and less these days as a result. Thanks.

Audio Mastering Service

Visit my mastering service web page.

  • For £10 per track, I will master your track and upload the processed file. By default I will supply a 44.1kHz/16-bit stereo .wav master; If you require a different format please state when enquiring.
  • All processing is currently carried out digitally using the finest audio software and DSP hardware from Sonnox (Sony Oxford), and Universal Audio.
  • Single track turnaround times are typically within 48 hours of reception (often within 24 hours, schedule permitting).
  • A sample mp3 snippet will be provided, allowing you to hear the adjustments I've made, before proceeding with payment.
  • If needed, I can provide FTP upload details for you, allowing you to securely upload your track to my server space (I can recommend FileZilla for this).
  • For best results, please ensure the original file is at least a 44.1kHz/16-bit stereo .wav or .aiff recording (24-bit preferred) and that no dynamic compression or limiting has been applied to the stereo mix.
  • Compressing the file using FLAC will ensure shorter uploading times.

Any questions, please feel free to post a comment on my site or get in touch privately.

I was listening to your Lemodie CD album in my car, some of the work is quite relaxing:) Also, the transistion from one song to the next is almost imperceptible, in other words the whole album is practically seamless.
