Orges & The Ockus – Rockus Band klingt nach Zirkus. Die Band beginnt zu spielen und in unserer Vorstellung treten schon nach den ersten Takten Clowns, Feuerschlucker und andere wundersame Zirkuswesen auf. Aus den Tieflagen kommt die Beschwörung "Aheng! Aheng!". Das ist wie ein Ruf nach Leben. Nicht nach dem gediegenen, kultivierten Leben! Sondern nach dem Zirkus-Leben: "On the road again". Und hier werden die Anlehnungen an Country deutlicher. Aber gleichzeitig überkommt uns das Gefühl, dass alle möglichen Anlehnungen hier nur dazu dienen, Spuren zu verwischen. Schließlich kann man sich dann so schön im Kreis drehen, wie das beim Tanzen nunmal so ist. "Aheng! Aheng!" ist ein Aufruf zum Tanz, zur Lebensfreude. Das wird von Improvisationen begleitet, die an die Gedanken eines Reisenden erinnern, der seine Personalien in riesigen Koffern mit Aufklebern aus dem Balkan, aus New Orleans, aus dem rauen Bebop und dem Rockabilly sucht. Wahrscheinlich sind das die Koordinaten des Orges & The Ockus - Rockus Band. Genau hier scheinen sie sich auch am wohlsten zu fühlen. Und in ihrem Suchen bemerkt der Hörer plötzlich, dass die Reise schon längst begonnen hat. Mit Klängen vermischt mit Gesprächsfetzen aus verrauchten Cafès, die, um wieder zum Zirkus zurückzukehren, einen an die Ansichten eines Feuerschluckers erinnern könnten. Denn die Musik von Ockus Rockus ist lebendig und magisch wie Feuer. Orges & The Ockus – Rockus Band starts playing. Doesn't it sound a little like circus? Actually after few beats clowns, fire-eaters and other wondrous creatures appear. A dark voice evocates "Aheng! Aheng!". This is like a call for life. Not for a neat and tidy one! But for the life of circus, the life "On the road again". And here country references seem obvious. On the other hand this might be another way to disguise traces. If we try to understand we might end up going around in circles. After all is there anything better we can do then dance around in circles? "Aheng! Aheng!" expects us to enjoy life and dance. The improvisations make us think of a traveller. He is searching in his old bag full with memories from Balkan to New Orleans for his particulars among the roughness of bebop and the twists of rockabilly. Maybe these are the coordinates of Ockus Rockus. Here the band seems to feel at home. And while they play the audience will recognize to have started its own journey. Pieces of conversations come from smoky cafés. It may be a fire-eater speaking about some kind of music full of magic and life like fire.
