About me:
October 22nd is a national day of action against police brutality. It is the day when those who have been victimized by the police, community members and activist gather in solidarity and say no more! This day aims to bring forward a powerful, visible, national protest against police brutality and the criminalization of a generation. It aims to expose the state's repressive program, bring forward those most directly under the gun of Police Brutality AND to also reach into all parts of the society--bringing forward others to stand in the fight against this official brutality. And to strengthen the peoples' organized capacity for resistance in a variety of ways. ...........................................................................
This event came to us as an idea from another state. Fed up with the bullshit that happens in our nation with police repression, and abuse of the system a group of us decided to take action. This event means more to us now than when it did in our initial stages. The idea that was born in our group became larger and heavier especially since the known repression by the police on the May 1st attacks in L.A. Although we live in Houston, police brutality and corruption exists nationwide and it is up to the people to take action and take back our community. We are individuals who are tired of watching our friends, family and neighboors beaten by what this country calls the law. If you are tired and fed up join us on this national day of action.
Who I'd like to meet: This event will took place Monday October 22, 2007 at Bohemeos. It was an informative event with a photo exhibit, short film, speakers and poets.
