My goal here is to showcase some of the great bands and recordings I have captured recently. I've been engineering and producing in the Portland area for over 6 years now and have managed to record just about every genre imaginable. My latest obsession is finding the most unique and crazy places to track drums, and let me tell you, we've found some stellar spots. I have amassed a pretty sweet mobile recording studio based around Pro Tools and as much tube analog gear as my budget will allow. All of it fitting into my Jetta of course... barely. When I'm not on the road tracking the gear is setup at my rural riverside studio called Tidewater in Kennebunk, ME. Drop me a line if you are looking for a more unique and comfortable way to record your next album.
My player above has 4 tracks from Portland area bands that i have worked with. Here is a quick run down of each track.
Cease To Exist is the first single off the new Dominic and The Lucid album Season of the Sun. We recorded this album throughout 2007 and 2008 and is their sophomore release. For more info check out their myspace. (www.myspace.com/dominicandthelucid)
What Is The Meaning Of Tonight is part of a 6 month long marathon recording session with crazy, yet gentle fuckers, THE SAUCE. This is a prime example of slow and steady winning this race. The disc is available for purchase on their site. (www.myspace.com/thesaucemusic)
Beer Sells, Singles Fade Away is track 2 off the Dominic and the Lucid album, Waging the Wage. It took about a year to conceive this album, but the result is phenominal. (www.myspace.com/dominicandthelucid)
Talk the Talk is off the Kevin Roper album Set Yourself Free. This is the second record we have recorded and we had a blast making it. About half the record was recorded in a post and beam lodge in the middle of the Poland Spring woods, while the rest was finished here at my studio, Tidewater. (www.myspace.com/kevinroper)
Let me know when your next gig is, or just drop me a quick line if you are in the greater Portland music scene.
Check out my blog for the latest news from here on out!
We just wanted to let you know that we will be playing at tune-town on Saturday. Its some sort of sale/Woodstock thing. It should be fun and I think we go on about 1:00. Have a nice day.
Well, Mr. Murray, I must say that you really have out done yourself with the new Lucid album. It is a gem, a masterpiece, a triumphant victory for music and a true true work of art. I had stop by and give you some big kudos. You deserve an entire keg of Bud Ice all to yourself with world holding you up for an attaboy keg stand. The music world should prepare themselves for the future of OAP.
