We are 6 friends from Lancaster who all like different styles of music and one summer decided we'd get together and play it all at once. This is how Odd Socks formed; friends playing the music they love. Throw in some super skank and the ignorance of the principle of a stage and you've got us. Not much more than that. We'll play pretty much anywhere and anytime from front rooms to supporting other bands. So if you like us give us a message or if you have a gig; we'd love to play :)
Keep on skankin'

Here's what other people say
'Reputed for their unrelenting energy, Odd Socks deliver a storming set that moves the most placid of audiences into a frenetic whirlwind of musical delight while they struggle (and most often not fail) to confine themselves to the stage. Classical trained front lady Xoe Whitfiled delivers vocals with the passion of Gwen Stefani in her hey day, while her band spar her on taking influence from a range of genres including, salsa, gypsy and old-school reggae. Combined with an infectious pop sentiment and professional delivery ,rare for a band still in school, Odd Socks are a treat for any audience. Get them while you can!' - Little Hellfire Club Records
'I hope to see a lot more of Odd Socks, easily the best new band to come out of Lancaster in a long while...' - SCAN
'Playing nationally with artists such as The Lancashire Hotpots, Odd Socks are marvelous. Their songs sound like a cheerful Morrissey on holiday in the Caribbean. With a growing reputation in Lancaster and Beyond, Odd Socks are something no to miss' - Crumbletop Zine

Homemade Lemonade - Lancaster based purveyers of live electronically enhanced indie folk:
"Loops,
drones and spiralling riffs with mantra-like vocals characterise much
of their live set. Crashing waves of guitar under a chant of ‘I can
walk on water’ … give way to a bleak early-Factory Records sound
updated with electronic effects … reaching an impressive drawn out
climax in the explosive ‘Bliss, Ostensibly.’"(Lunecy Review, July 2009).
Pencil In - Preston-based alternative rock.
Pencil
In are a four piece alternative rock band hailing from the North West
of England. Coupling the incredible vocal clarity of Bill Orrick with
layered, effect soaked, post rock soundscapes and waves of raunchy
balls-out heaviness, theirs is a truly unique sound.
Satellites - 4-piece based in Lancaster Post-rock, ambient, progressive - "a double measure of post rock served with a generous helping of progressiveness."
Quisling
Meat - This is a mystery guest of sorts. He's been in Dry Green, the
Pier Group, the Thens, the Plastic Noons, and more. He's been away for
a while, but he's back in Lancaster. Don't miss this!

Hey Zoe, we had an absolutely great time, can't wait to see you all again at the Golden Lion. I was sorry to hear that Odd Socks might be going their separate ways, I really really enjoyed your set at the Dukes last time. Are any of you moving to Manchester for uni?
hey, i'm so sorry to hear about the end of Odd Socks- you were the best local band that I knew about, and I doubt there will be another band that captured youthful energy and excitement quite as succssfully as you did. Would be gald to hear as soon as possible about your last forthcoming gigs- I will make sure I'll be at every single one of them. And I'll buy the EP! So long, good luck. xxx
Yeah, that's swingin'. Thank you for being our friends. Come and play a tour in Germany and don't forget to play somewhere near our little town. All the best The Club Spades
it was off eden's phone, so it'll be the one she has. i've got a party next saturday (i think) so that'll be a laugh! sixth form's really good, although i'm sure my positive feelings toward it will deteriorate sooner than expected! xxx
