   About odelia

Odelia formed in Fullerton, CA in the fall of 2001. The band has an unstructured approach to creating music, incorporating loops and non-traditional rock instruments, switching off said instruments during songs, and a general DIY approach. The band’s sound can be described as dynamic and atmospheric. Like their contemporaries, Odelia can be categorized in many genres. They have been described as experimental, post-rock, avant-rock, and instrumental. However, Odelia is comfortable with being described simply as a rock band.

There is no single creator of Odelia’s music. The band has distanced themselves from traditional song writing, their writing process is a collaborative, live experiment that stumbles over trial and error. The movement within the music is the focus, and vocals are used sparingly to enhance songs. Each song uniquely evolves in a dynamic range of sound and textures. Since 2001 Odelia has recorded three albums Argyplanischa (2002), The Angel as an Imposter (2003), and Songs for a Clownfish (2006).

To truly experience Odelia you need to see them live. Odelia has gained quite a reputation for their live performances. The band often incorporates visual art by projecting film and is frequently joined by visual artist John Hagan who paints along side the band during live performances
