PIW WGI Percussion Line out of Suwanee, GA The Odyssey Organization a 501-c Non Profit Organization ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Statement Our mission at Odyssey Percussion Theatre is for our cast members to become respectful vital citizens and life-long learners in the global community. While providing quality music education, focused on work ethic, teamwork and responsibility, we furnish a safe, positive learning environment for talented young musicians. Description Odyssey Percussion Theatre is a new organization dedicated to youth education in the arts. Odyssey offers young men and women between the ages of 15 and 22 quality educational and performance experiences in the percussive arts. Our objective is to develop personal character through challenging physical, mental, and social activities while promoting the values of perseverance, hard work, and responsibility to accomplish team goals. Not only will members develop their musical performance abilities with the help of the Odyssey staff, but they will also participate in and watch beneficial clinics by motivational speakers and renowned musicians. A dedicated group of musicians have volunteered their time and expertise to create this organization and strive to provide an environment for young people to develop their musical abilities as well as their social and life skills. 2004 was the first season of competition in Winter Guard International (WGI). Winter Guard is a competitive program that combines music, movement and props into a theatrical production performed in a gymnasium. Odyssey will be competing on the World Class level, involving over 30 young performers. Odyssey will compete across the country against other indoor percussion organizations, culminating in the WGI Finals competition in Dayton, Ohio. Odyssey hopes to continue to grow in the coming years and to expand its educational benefits to other areas of music and performance. What we do for the Community The Odyssey experience helps instill a sense of pride and the important values of dedication, discipline, commitment, and achievement through teamwork that is then carried back into the community. Young people soon discover that dedication and hard work enable them to achieve success. Success, in turn, promotes confidence in their abilities. Odyssey will be performing in venues throughout the community to display the performance talent within the group and to share its members’ love of music with the community. Stop by sometime. Check us out on the groups list or on our webpage. Odyssey Percussion Theatre

well I know that some of the pit is coming and I'm coming to watch because I'm only a freshmen in High School and this is only my first year playing with four mallets. I have to work on making my four mallet technique better before I become Odyssey material. Carly and Olivia have helped me alot and Whitney did a little but I need to get better before I go for Odyssey, but while I'm down there some constructive criticism would be nice if you wouldn't mind.

Of course, but we really rather you jump in and work the exercises with us. By doing so, our instructors will be able to come over and suggest a few things that might help you. Either way, come out and see what Odyssey is about. We are sure you will like it.
