   Offbeat's Blurbs
About me:
Offbeat -adj. 1 not coinciding with the beat. 2 eccentric, unconventional. -n any of the unaccented beats in a bar.

What is Offbeat?

In case you hadn't guessed, Offbeat is the main indie / alternative society at Warwick University. We put on as many discos and gigs as humanly possible at places including the Graduate Club on campus, The Colosseum and Taylor John's House in Coventry, and more besides. We also hold socials every Thursday in Rootes Social. At our discos we try to play a wide range of alternative independent tunes. We might not always play your favourite songs, but give us a requests and you never know. Remember, nothing's too obscure!

Why do I love Offbeat?

Because you love music that means something. Music that isn't just there to get drunk to in your designer labels. Music that makes you think, and gives you something to hold on to when you're feeling down. You also love us! And who are we? We're just like you. People in your position who decided to help the cause!

Who is Offbeat?

Have a look on our forum and you'll find lots of people currently involved in the running of Offbeat. We're always availiable, either through the forum or Myspace, and want to meet you. If you wanted (and are at Warwick) you can be on the exec, standing, ready and waiting with a bag full of posters and 7" singles. Just get in touch with us and get to know us and you're away!

Joining Offbeat

If you'd like to join Offbeat you need to be a member or associate member of the NUS, or have WGA membership. You can then join the society at reception in Union North.

And remember...

Be glittery, be proud!

Dananananaykroyd are six friends from Glasgow specialising in all-or-nothing clanging rock and indie-pop hardcore which will improve your life ten-fold.

Having recently toured with (and successfully freed) popular combos such as Foals, Holy Fuck and Johnny Foreigner, Dananananaykroyd has also recently completed a successful headline tour of the United Kingdom, stoating about the country like a gang of Pied Pipers, leading the needy and unfortunate to a lifetime of fulfillment through their unique brand of fight-pop.

We need you to help us out!
We're in a competition on channel 4 called mobile act and we need you to vote for us.

Click the image below to go to our profile then you just need to sign up and vote. You can vote once a day, each day for just the next two weeks so please make sure you do it everyday then get everyone you know to do the same!

I've also uploaded 2 live videos to our myspace profile from a rave we played on Sat night that you can check out once you've voted for us. Then order youself a copy of our new 8 track ep. We've just got the CDs back from the manufacturers and they look beautiful (wait till you see what's printed on the actual CD!). They're only £3, we've made it as cheap as possible just so that our costs are covered and you guys have the chance to get a copy without breaking the bank.

Cheers, we know we can count on you!

It is a lesser known fact that Tony Hart designed the logo for the Blue Peter badge. Whilst asking for a fee of one penny per badge they scr*wed him out of a fortune with a £100 flat fee in order to give more badges to any 9 year old idiot with a crayon set and a limited imagination. We’d like to dedicate this show to Tony Hart who has been f****d by art.

Ex-Les Incompetents band, Ox. Eagle. Lion. Man., Envy and Other Sins, Buen Chico and The Sequins play alongside Le Supercool Discotheque and Arty F**kers dj sets.

This Friday!!! 8.30pm til late, £4 on the door or through www.tinangeltickets.co.uk
