Originally from Laredo, Tx, Alberto Hernandez (born January 08, 1991) and his family moved to San Antonio, Tx. when he was only 9. Growing up, an avid NBA Live gamer, his last name Hernandez had too many characters to fit on the player jerseys, so his brother simply shortened it to Hernz. From there, the moniker AJ Hernz stuck. AJ Hernz is an up and coming recording artist and dancer. His journey started as a dancer, and evolved when his love for music moved him to turn his poetry into song. His blend of R&B and Pop music are inspired by artists such as Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, and Chris Brown. AJ started recording music at 17 and has received vocal training from vocal guru Ankh Ra, who declared “AJ, you’re a superstar.” AJ released his first mixtape, properly titled “Arrival” only two weeks ago, and has sold over 1,000 copies and counting locally. His first single, the radio friendly hip hop infused song ,“Cant Wait” feat. B Hamp (of “Ricky Bobby” success) has had over 170,000 Myspace plays as well as kept daily rotation on 98.5 The Beat. Along with contributing to the local music scene, and dozens of performances across south Texas, as well as New Jersey and New York, AJ has also taken the stage as an opening act for Lil Wayne on the last leg of his Farewell Tour. He has a cameo in Young Money’s Lil Twist and Lil Chuckee’s video “Girl I Got You,” where he briefly shows off his choreography. As with any determined artist, AJ is working relentlessly to stay on the same path toward success. He has worked with Lil Twist, as well as The New Boyz on several records slated to be released this fall. His management is working on getting him placement on several upcoming tours as an opening act to continue to promote his brand and garner exposure. Cortez Bryant, co-ceo of Young Money has said "Lookout for Aj Hernz in 2010." It is his affiliation with Bryant that allowed him the opportunity to join Lil Wayne’s tour as well as network with many more artists in the music industry. Recognizing the importance of networking and good work ethic, AJ is focused on perfecting his craft and making his dream a reality.
