Alpha – Alpha is what the music industry has been missing and yearning for. This rising star is a rap artist and songwriter from North Atlanta, Alpharetta, Georgia. With an array of unique and original off-the-wall similes, metaphors and concepts, along with his unprecedented lyrical prowess, originality and creativity, Alpha is guaranteed to grab your attention and make you feel his music. His style on and off the mic, personal background and accomplishments are truly a representation of something that is the essence of Alpha.
Alpha chose his name for many different, yet relevant reasons:
1. Alpha represents being the 1st. Since there is no other artist in the industry that has the combination of his “pretty boy” appearance, suburban and college background with his creative approach to rap music. In essence, Alpha represents leadership, which is apparent in his character on and off the mic. He doesn’t follow anyone’s footsteps because he’s too busy making his own.
2. Alpha is from Alpharetta, Georgia and wants to rep his hometown in his name. Alpha represents Alpharetta to the fullest and is putting North Atlanta as a whole on the map. In addition, it’s a constant reminder for him to never forget where he came from and how it made him the man he is today.
3. Alpha is a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. His frat has contributed to him becoming the person that he is today, so he decided to put part of his fraternity’s name into his stage name.
4. Alpha is an acronym for “All Lyricists Possess High Aptitude”. His intelligence is prevalent in his music, character and accomplishments, and this acronym says it all.
Alpha was born Glen Fauntleroy Jr. on December 21, 1984 in Norfolk, Virginia. Due to his father’s career he was constantly on the move during his childhood. He lived in Middletown, New Jersey, Orlando, Florida, Alpharetta, Georgia (1994) and Cary, North Carolina, before he moved back to settle in Alpharetta, Georgia in 1997 at the age of 12. He attended Chattahoochee High School before he transferred to Northview High School his senior year and the school’s charter year. He graduated with a dual diploma and as the school’s very 1st Outstanding Business Student of the Year in 2003. He also attended Hampton University and graduated with honors and the departmental honor, becoming the recipient of the Entrepreneurship Departmental award for being the top Entrepreneurship major student in 2007.
Alpha discovered that he had a talent for writing once he was given the task of writing poems for an assignment in his English class during his junior year in high school. Alpha started writing as an outlet to voice his opinion on social issues and as a dedication to those closest to him. It didn’t take long for his family and friends to notice his abilities and encourage him to start writing songs. It was at this time that Alpha also discovered his passion for rap music. Influenced by successful artist like Eminem, Mike Shinoda, Ludacris, and Outkast, who went against the status quo for what the stereotypical rap artist was, Alpha also strived to do the same under the vindication that he too could reach mainstream success while being true to himself.
Alpha is determined to set precedence and leave his mark on the music industry. “I’m not striving just to get in the game so I can make a few hits and collect a check. Music is my life. I am passionate about my work and put my blood, sweat and tears into every word, in every line, in every rhyme and every song. Whether it’s a club banger or a song with great depth to it, I put my all into it. I strive to be renowned as the greatest rap artist ever. I’m working towards surpassing my predecessors, to inspire people to be the best at whatever it is that they want to do, and to show people that through hard work and dedication, any and everything is possible.” Alpha released the "Don't Sleep On Em" Mixtape 07-10-09. He is currently working on singles for his upcoming debut indie album.
