Arc is an instrumental progressive metal band from Knoxville, TN. The band draws from a broad variety of inspirations to create music that is melodic, powerful, and at times extremely technical. Some of the group's biggest influences are Animals as Leaders, Karnivool, Opeth, and Cynic.
Arc began as a two man recording project comprised of drummer Ian Shuirr and guitarist Kris Hawkins. The duo recorded some music and gained the attention of fellow musicians looking to fill out the lineup and start performing as a group. Guitarists Luke Vick and Ben Eller were added as well as bassist Joe Rowland.
Highly intense drumming paired with fusion-like leads, melodic bass work, and powerful riffs are the highlights of Arc's sound. A deep appreciation for progressive music, film scores, and jazz fusion as well as metal and "djent" bands can be found in their songs.
In the short time that Arc has been performing live, they have gained a very positive reaction from crowds and the pleasure of sharing the stage with such bands as Fair to Midland, Scale the Summit, Down from Up, and Apocalpyptica.
