Well, it all depends on which songs you listen to. I have had descriptions such as silverchair, nirvana, midnight oil and an eclectic mix of the influences listed on my site. I see it as rock, with a jazzy bluesy feel.
BOYD is an independent band formed to promote awareness of Muscular Dystrophy, a rare genetic disorder that results in the deteriation of muscle tissue. It is also our intention to promote awareness of potential treatments and generate some funding for research utilising the medium of music as a plateform to spark interest.
In 2004, founding member of BOYD, Graham Boyd, who suffers from the condition, teamed up with his good friends, Matt Anderson (MindLattice) and Aaron Stone (Speaker Slave Productions) to creat an album that could appeal to a wide audience and facilitate the dissemination of information to the general public.
A number of talented musicians also generously contributed to the album, which has seen a diverse mix of pop, rock and metal influences combined in a distinctive rock sound with a subtle jazz feel that explores the gamut of emotions afflicting sufferers.
The rigores of production all paled into insignificance against the loss of loved ones along the way but all has resolved in an unflinching desire to see the mission through!
