"Excellent stuff. Carmelite rules!" - Mattias IA Eklundh "Great, edgy and unusual" - Camille O'Sullivan "They made me want to stop listening to Razorlight" - Audience Member
"I think this pair has huge potential. I'd guess that this is what pure dead brilliant sounds like in the rough." - TunAtheday.com
Laurence Owen (Guitar/Vocals) and Ryan Michael (Bass Guitar) met at school in London at the age of thirteen. Now, at twenty, they perform as the duo Carmelite, and have produced four albums over the last five years.
Carmelite's sound is an assault not normally associated with the acoustic world, and the duo has been known to violently shake up acoustic clubs with their unique brand of alternative rock. Soaring melodies and catchy rhythms can be expected, often coming from the band's trademark 6-string bass guitar.
Inspired mainly by acts such as Nick Cave, The Divine Comedy, Smashing Pumpkins and REM, Carmelite has attracted a lot of attention on the London circuit with charismatic live shows and epic, intelligent songs.
Carmelite have not played now for over a year. Last May they were declared officially dead.
Hello!! How are ya? Can I ask a huge favour plz? Ineed you to vote for me to win a songwriting competition - www. shurecreativeaward. com - it only takes 2 MINUTES I swear & its really important to me...
I really feel for you as a musician, bands who like yourselves have been together on the stage for so long, disbanding, must feel like loosing yr arm! Yeah, Ryan did some session work for me earlier this year and he has so much talent on that bass of his, its sad and such a waste of talent that he's giving it up. However, you know, I say that once a musician always a musician, and Ryan and yourself are only young. I can only say that from my own experience, he'll be back in the future, music is in your blood, once you've caught the addiction, you're in it for life. At 19 i was solo club singer, and gave it up to settle down, but now i'm 25, I got back into it, and i've done better. Recorded an album, same place as you at Motion Studio, and now i've a support band backing me live!! Every musician who performs publically goes through a phase of being fed up with the same old, same old, but you'll think back as you get into yr 20's and it'll bring a smile to yr face those memories of the great performances you had, and you'll want to get back into it again. Its one of the bains of life that most musicians go through, and the strongest survive and return.
Good Luk in all you do, and NEVER GIVE UP! You have a gift, use it!

Im soo sorry to hear about your turmoil. I wish you guys the best of luck in the future and hope one day you'll be as famous as The Beattles. You guys have the potential and if I ever win the lotto we are going to be in touch! I promise!!!
That is a crying shame. I hope that as individuals you'll continue making music. You were definitely one of the most promising artists that TunA the Day featured in the last 12 months. Good luck with what you do next. Ade
