Ladies and Gentlemen - allow us to display the sleeve of our latest album which is a bit of an epic by all accounts. A nicely balanced mix of garage punk, psych and goth even if we say so ourselves! For any discerning music lovers out there (you must be if you visited THIS site) there's some links below if you fancy adding SO, WHO'S PARANOID? to your record collection.
Mr Vanian has written the soundtrack for THE PERFECT SLEEP, a movie very much in our favourite 'film noir' catagory. If you can't catch it at a cinema grab hold of a DVD - coming soon!
CAPTAIN'S ALL EXCITED ABOUT SOMETHING. WE'LL LET HIM TAKE OVER SHALL WE...
"Ladies and Gentlemen..... until now my wonderful 80s A+M albums have been
unavailable on CD but those lovely people at Cherry Red Records have plucked them out of obscurity and restored them to their former glory.
Needless to say, I'm thrilled so I've helped out with the bonus tracks and sleeve notes and also rummaged through my drawers for some ancient and incriminating photos from way back. May I say how EXTREMELY happy I am with the results......" - CLICK THE ALBUM COVER FOR DETAILS.
Oh, and in case you don't recognize the other reprobates on the cover there with Mr Sensible here's a quick who's who......
The Damned were formed in London, England, in 1976. The group's original members found each other while performing in an assortment of short-lived outfits during punk's initial days.
Brian James (a founder member and guitarist) christened the group The Damned after a 1969 movie of the same name. It was also a name said to be descriptive of the band's hapless state of affairs at the time.
The group rehearsed for six weeks before playing their first show on July 6th 1976, as an opening act for the Sex Pistols at London's 100 Club. The Damned quickly earned a reputation as a viable act on the circuit.
Although The Damned have had a turbulent history, there is no doubt that their music and attitude still prevail with all the energy of that original 1976 line-up, and their back catalogue of 8 studio albums have endured the test of time... and whatsmore, they've outlasted most of their 70's punk contemporaries!
The current line-up is David Vanian (Vocals); Captain Sensible (Guitar & Vocals); Pinch (Drums); Monty Oxy Moron (Keyboards) and Stu West (Bass).
