Dustin Lee is an American singer-songwriter, originally hailing from Fort Madison, Iowa. Currently living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he has recently released his album “On My Way Back Home” featuring thirteen moving, thoughtful, and poignant songs inspired by life in the Hawkeye state.
Growing up along the Mississippi River, his interest in music started at an early age. He received his first guitar on his 8th birthday. By the time he had reached junior high school, he was taking lessons, growing as a musician, and excelling as a vocalist. Throughout his high school years, he was a member of a local vocal group and played in various garage bands. Shortly after enrolling at Western Illinois University, Dustin formed the band Doubt and became a fixture in the Macomb bar, party, and festival scenes playing a blend of loud, high energy classic and modern rock. During that 4 year run, Dustin advanced his skills as a songwriter and honed his chops as a live performer.
Following Doubt’s split in 1999, Dustin moved back to Iowa and joined the already successful local band Head First. His contribution to Head First as a rhythm guitarist and songwriter breathed new life into the band. During his tenure, they recorded “Done”, their only album. The project consisted of eight songs, seven penned by Lee. Next up was a three piece outing called Stroker Ace. For 2 years, they were headlining local clubs in Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri with an emphasis on original material.
Since arriving in Southeastern Wisconsin, Dustin has advanced his solo career and has been busy performing for a new legion of fans at a wide variety of venues. He periodically appears with other local, national, and international artists.
I'm performing at Club Garibaldi this saturday with Michael McDermott at 9pm. (2501 s superior street, milwaukee) bring your ears! Hope to see you then
eventually, whenever i finish one. i have this delusion that i'm going to record three albums in the next year. in the meantime, the photos will primarily be for promo purposes.
I see you escaped from southeastern Iowa as well. That could be a good thing or, a bad thing. The good thing? A whole lot more ears to listen to your tunes that are pretty darn good! The bad thing? No spring mushrooms to search for. Enjoyed your tunes
