Actor/producer Justin Berfield and Jason Felts formed J2 Pictures & J2TV in 2004 and quickly established themselves as a film and television production company with an eye for strong concepts and talent.

Based in Los Angeles, Berfield and Felts are currently in active feature development on the Jerry Garcia bio-pic, covering the early years of the Grateful Dead frontman’s life. Such true stories are reflective of much of J2’s slate. Also in active development is Who is Doris Payne, the compelling story of the now 75-year-old international jewel thief whose adventures spanned over five decades throughout the United States and Europe. J2 also has a strong interest in comedy, and just completed Blonde Ambition, a comedy feature starring Luke Wilson, Jessica Simpson and Rachel Leigh Cook. The project is slated for a Summer 2007 release by Sony Pictures.

Berfield and Felts’ start in film began in late 2004 when they served as co-producers and co-investors on the feature film Romance & Cigarettes, starring James Gandolfini, Susan Sarandon, Kate Winslet, Mandy Moore and Christopher Walken. The film was written and directed by John Turturro, produced by GreenStreet Films and the Coen Brothers, and will be distributed domestically by Roadside Attractions and internationally by Icon.

With an equal interest in television, Berfield and Felts are also in development on a slate of television projects, both scripted and reality-based. Recently, J2TV expanded its operation with the addition of Harvey Myman. Myman comes to J2TV after serving in both a producer and senior executive capacity at companies including ABC, Carsey-Werner, Columbia/Tri Star Television (Sony), HBO and Touchstone Television.

Berfield and Felts’ first venture into television production came in the summer of 2005 when they created and executive produced Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive for E! Entertainment Television. The “City Slickers” style, challenge-based reality series followed affluent and celebrity offspring as they left their privileged lives and headed to the open range for a 100-mile trek with a herd of 200 cattle. Currently, Berfield and Felts have created and will executive produce a series around famous NASCAR legend Richard Petty for CMT.

Regardless of whether the medium is scripted or reality, J2TV’s passion is for projects and ideas that are conceptually fresh and driven by a strong sense of storytelling. Protecting the vision of writers, creators, and artists is at the heart of the company’s development philosophy.
