Kerosene Willy began in 1995 when several St. Louis bands had a weekend off. Ahzad Bogosian, then-drummer for the granddaddy of St. Louis jam/Dead bands Jake's Leg, put together a show at the now defunct bar 20 North. Ahzad rounded up members of Blue Dixie and his own band to do a two-night stint at "The North."
Various forms of The Willy played for the next five years in St. Louis and surrounding areas. When Chopper moved to Virginia in 2000, he took the name with him. Within a year, he and the Wray brothers, Mike and Shannon, were gigging steadily in the Roanoke area and playing numerous private outings.
For the past eight years, Willy has been a staple in the local music scene in and around the Southwest Va. An occasional hiatus or two with personnel changes in the last several years has not deterred the Willy from repeat performances at many area festivals and venues and have always been known for their spontaneous eclectic set lists and generosity toward the community.

I can't believe we're playing Satidy nite at the Fork and won't be at Martin's to hear you guys. I guess we could pull a no-show, but that wouldn't be very professional. We put out a bulletin on our myspace telling our folks that they need to see KW. Let's figure out a joint gig soon.
