About me:

Official Website: Killer Films.com

Killer’s history began with a controversy in 1991, when Christine Vachon produced Todd Haynes’ first feature, POISON.  POISON won the grand jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival and was thrust into the limelight when Jesse Helms and the far right protested the NEA’s involvement in the film.  She continued to make waves throughout the early 90’s with films like Todd Haynes’ second film SAFE, an unsettling look at modern life featuring a devastating performance by Julianne Moore, Larry Clark’s controversial portrait of teenage youth culture KIDS, and Mary Harron’s I SHOT ANDY WARHOL, starring Lili Taylor as the radical Valerie Solanas.

When Killer Films was officially founded in 1995, it took its name from artist Cindy Sherman’s debut feature, the gory slasher film send-up OFFICE KILLER.  Other Killer highlights include Todd Solondz’s seminal portrait of dysfunction in suburban America, HAPPINESS; Todd Haynes’ dazzling glam-rock fantasia VELVET GOLDMINE; John Cameron Mitchell’s adored gender-bending rock odyssey HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH; Haynes’ homage to 1950 melodrama, FAR FROM HEAVEN, featuring another star turn by Julianne Moore, which was nominated for four Academy Awards in 2002; and the company’s biggest financial success, Mark Romanek’s ONE HOUR PHOTO, starring Robin Williams.

While there is a wide variety the size and subject matter of our films, we strive to be consistent in our commitment to the idea that each movie should support the distinct point of view of the filmmaker. Killer has been able to stay vital by growing with many of our directors into bigger budget films, while also remaining committed to supporting the first-time filmmakers and lower-budget films that continue to reshape our culture.

Most frequently asked question:

How can I submit my material to Killer Films?

In the early days of Killer, we were able to accept all submissions.  Unfortunately, for legal reasons, we can only accept scripts and short films if they are submitted by a legitimate agent, manager, or entertainment lawyer, or if a member of the Killer Films staff solicits your material personally.  Please do not send us unsolicited scripts.  They are expensive for you to copy and sadly do not make it past the front desk.

That said, there are always ways to be creative about getting our attention.  Send us invitations to your play, screening, reading - we are out and about!

Does Killer Films offer internships?

Yes! Killer relies on a rotating group of motivated, hard-working students who are interested in many different aspects of the film business. You do not need to be a film major, but you do have to be a student of some kind. We can't pay our interns so you need to receive school credit. We accept interns all year round. To apply, please fax your resume to (212) 473-6152, attention "Internship Coordinator."

Who I'd like to meet:

I'M NOT THERE
Special Jury Prize, Venice Film Festival - Todd Haynes
Best Actress, Venice Film Festival - Cate Blancett

AN AMERICAN CRIME
The true story of a shocking crime and a secret that wouldn't keep.

Director - Tommy O'Haver
Starring - Ellen Page, Catherine Keener, James Franco, Hayley McFarland, Ari Graynor, Evan Peters, Bradley Whitford, Scout Taylor-Compton

Do you know A*NON?

please check out the series, FEED, that was inspired by her Myspace blog and her new novel by the same title.

FEED launched at www. feedseries. tv to rave reviews and subsequently was picked up by AfterEllen and now airs every other Friday on FeedSeries. tv, AfterEllen. com, 365gay. com and LOGOOnline. com.

please stop by AfterEllen and let them know what you think of the show!

Here's a link to the current episode on the AfterEllen page: http://www. afterellen. com/blog/trishbendix/video-feed-4 or you can always find us on the front page of AfterEllen under FEED or in the main headlines.

We'd love your feedback as we have just launched the first narrative episode of the series and are really now getting into A*NON's back story as a producer in reality television.

So stop by www. afterellen. com and leave us FEEDback, good or bad...we just want to hear from you!

thanks to everyone for supporting indie art!
