I'm a true disciple to music. I never dreamed of being a pop star growing up. I looked up to my Dad, wanted to be a Doctor and become President of the United States( I thrive on challenges ) or Nigeria (I'm a dual citizen). I always reworked nursery rhymes as a kid though, maybe because I thought the melody should have taken a different direction than originally written.And I started trying to write an early stage. I don't see myself as a prolific or even a good songwriter, (some critics have said that about me) but at a certain point in time, like any real musician probably did, I started questioning the establishment. I thought that songs I recorded for fun in my home studio could compete with some songs I heard on the radio. I wanted my voice on issues ranging from teenage sex to the Gulf war be heard too ( I was 15), so I started on my journey. My education has been long and hard. I just realised that I spent so much time and money in my first ten years in the music game and did not learn a thing. And I've learned so much in the last 2 years than in the first 10. And along the way, I've made some friends, whom I feel I can call brothers, and I've met some backstabbing snakes; wolves in sheeps clothing, claiming to be straight shooters and true to the game. But they feel that you are trying to compete with them. So they make it seem like they are your friends, get your ideas, and use them, without letting you benefitting from the whole positive outcome that might surface. I've had phones hung up in my ear, unreturned phone calls and doors slammed in my face. I've been escorted by security because I've asked for help. I've stripped myself of my ego and asked for help so many times, its sickening. And I've made so many moves to get out there.......But I'm still here...Wondering why. Why can't I get my voice heard to a wider audience? Why can't I get my opinions to more people and make my difference in the world? I don't have the best music, but I have something to say too. There are so many times I get chills down my spine from the way people treat each other, that I've had to fight tears. And I've cried sometimes too in my own privacy. I'm man enough to admit that. I don't have the biggest balls in the world, but I know mines are pretty big. And when a spiritually tuned brother like me goes into the world to fight that invisible, ubiquitous monster, bumps and bruises takes its toll. I feel like I wanna quit....... My eyes tear up. But you know what though. I love music. I'll always love you music. I love you man. I love Sade, I love Marvin Gaye, the Temptations, Enya, Nirvana, RadioHead, Van Hunt, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Stevie Wonder, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Fela, Ebenezer Obey, King Sunny Ade, Bob Marley, The Pocket Dwellers, Talib Kweli, Biggie Smalls, Tupac Shakur, Dr.Dre, Beethoven, YoYo Ma,New Edition, The Game, Aerosmith, Smokey Robinson and Lanre' and so many others. I love you music and in whatever very different many forms you manifest yourself in and in all the very many beautiful souls you show your existence through. And just like every other thing life, I appreciate you even when you manifest yourself in forms that are in my opinion not beautiful, for through you everyone has their own voice. Despite and inspite of everything, I'll always love you music!!!!!
