Review from Talking Heads in Southampton by Jurassic Mark:
‘Its rare these days I see a band actually enjoying music, and Long Shore Drift are one of that rarity. Returning to the Southampton music scene after a band reshuffle, they are a force to be reckoned with armed with killer licks, bass thumping beats plus a front-man with more energy than the sun.
They launched their set with 'Devil on The Dance floor'- Every member of the group moving, jumping and entertaining the crowd. 'Blonde' is a piece of song writing genius, its right up there with the Glastonbury crowd pleasing bands of the summer. This is a rich, catchy crowd pleaser with guitar hooks Hendrix and all would have been honoured to have witnessed. Even the mellow 'Tonight' which started like an indie ballad transformed into a monster crescendo near the end, with the crowd loving it. 'Near Fatal' raised the tempo again and got people shouting for more.
It was 'Show You' an obvious hit, which proved the band were really serious as a band- a multi layered, guitar driven smash which the crowd were astounded by. 'Heroic' ended the set (not before a myspace plug). The tune has radio airplay written all over it. A top night from a top band’.
When reviewed at The Joiners, Southampton, the Mag wrote:
‘Long Shore Drift very quickly got their game on, with a set of lively rock and roll with a front man to rival Mick Jagger about 40 years ago. All of the tracks had a distinct 70s rock feel, with notes of Sabbath, Led Zep and Deep Purple, and with some very retro-sounding lyrics, such as "I wanna take you home, can't wait to get you all alone." The lead singer really encouraged crowd participation, with syncopated clapping and even lighter-waving towards the end of the set. These guys have a really good sound’.
