I have received official notification from the Florida Legislature that the bill for spay/neutering (low cost, even free for every Floridian who voluntarily wishes to fix their pet) bill shall be refiled for March 2010.  The bill was never rejected-in fact the Agriculture Committee has co-sponsored the bill-the only thing the Florida Legislature passed was a budget and that's it so literally hundreds of bills were neglected and made void. But this spay-neuter bill WILL HAPPEN next session, and this time it WILL pass. It's refined and nobody opposes it :-)   What it does is for every single animal ordinance or animal cruelty charge-there will be surcharge to FUND LOW COST/FREE spay/neuterings. It costs the state NOTHING and everybody gains. And let me assure you if you offer free or dirt cheap spay/neuterings people will bring their animals in to be fixed by the truck load! People on any kind of social assistance get it for free!
There are other bills I'm working on to be refiled, but this one is of top priority.
I GOT FLORIDA COVERED!!!  PETA POWER ALL THE WAY!!!

forgot to share some happy news.... my son and a few omnivore friends participated in Paul McCartney's "Meat-FREE Monday" and are thinking of making it a steady weekly habit!!!  OK, its not veggie or vegan but its a start!  Since I've gone Vegetarian, my son's cut WAY down on his meat consumption. He's a future veggie for sure! Hopefully by then I'll be ready for my next step to Vegan

For 30 years, Jan Haagensen has been harassed and her farm in PA invaded with impunity by hunters, and her NO HUNTING signs and fences repeatedly torn down. 10 years ago, she had had enough, and approached the trespassing hunters to ask them to leave, and asked a hunter engaged in illegal hunting to cease and desist. When a hunter threatened to shoot her and her mother, she called police, which sided chummily with the hunters, and later charged her with 5 counts of "hunter harassment". The "kangaroo court" convicted her on all 5 counts. Being an attorney, she appealed to the appellate court and won, and is now challenging the PA Hunter Harassment Statute in federal court as being unconstitutional for inhibiting free speech and violating property rights. If she wins, doors will be open for challenging the equally unconstitutional Hunter Harassment laws of other states.
