About Ravenage
The history of Ravenage actually goes back to 2006 when Guitarist/Producer Sam 'Unearther' Lawler & Vocalist Glyn The Heralder formed a musical project by the name of Heathen Foray to purely write down and record some ideas inspired by Folk, Melodic Death & Black Metal.
However, after just 1 songwriting session they decided to give it a go and become an active band and very quickly recruited Lord Legion (who'd previously plied his trade with Sam in Damballa) on bass duties as well as Stormsword on drums firstly as a session player but later as a full time time member, under this line up the band recorded their first demo 'This Is The Call' and performed several shows, mostly in Yorkshire, North East Lincolnshire & The Midlands. Midway through 2007 Mark The Woodsman (Now with Winterfyleth & Guthrum) joined the band on rhythm guitar and also took over the recording duties. By the end of November 2007 Stormsword had quit the band and Sam needed a break from the music scene and thus Heathen Foray evolved into Ravenage with Glyn, Mark & Lord Legion carrying on the legacy but in a more aggressive style.
December 2007 brought the three members into Mark's home studio where they were to record a self titled and self financed demo where they could then use it to advertise for a drummer and a keyboard player.
Enter forth the New Year and a drummer was sighted. Hailing from Lisbon, Portugal former drummer of Viking Folk Metal band, Gwydion; which are now signed to Trollzorn Records. Bruno “Ulver” Almeida entered the ranks of Ravenage and the line up was almost complete.

However the band still lacked the distinctive diversity a keyboard player could provide, and after trying out several candidates 17 year old Elliot “Windrider" Vernon, of the folk metal solo project Nogothrim, was selected as the fifth and final member required to make Ravenage one of the most promising folk metal acts in the country.
And so the line up of Ravenage was complete, the brothers were assembled, and the rehearsals began.
The lyricism, expertise and knowledge of history has given us the ideology of telling tales of battle, repent and discussing the divine delights of mythology. Inspired by books and events, Ravenage bring you Epic Heathen Metal.
2008 was a very busy year for Ravenage in all aspects, of writing, recording and gigging, the band managed a full UK tour playing gigs all over England, Scotland and Wales, as well as playing the unsigned stage as Bloodstock Open Air and 3 dates in Portugal supporting Ulver's previous band Gwydion.
Come 2009 former Talamasca/Hearthguard axe man Stig was recruited on lead guitar bringing with him a wealth of experience, shortly afterwards Markku The Woodsman left the band on good terms to concentrate on his other bands, and Stig agreed to handle all guitar duties for Ravenage's spring and early summer commitments, until re-inspired Sam Unearther returned to the fray making Ravenage once a twin axe assault and coming almost full circle. And in October after serving 20 months with Ravenage Bruno left the band and was replaced by Mr Northern Terror himself Garr!
