RUST is an alternative rock and post-grunge band from Helsinki, Finland. With a mix of alternative rock and metal angst, RUST is a great live act, with a solid and growing fan base.
The band's first EP, The Black EP, came out in 2003 and instantly caught the attention of the national music press and radio in Finland. The first single from the EP - "Down" - earned rave reviews and put RUST into radio rotation on YleX (one of the Finnish Broadcasting Company's national radio channels). YleX nominated the single as "track of the week."
The second single " Miss You" also got a lot of attention because it was featured in the Finnish movie "Addiction" (in Finnish: Levottomat 3) and included on the soundtrack (Poko Records/EMI) released in 2004.
The third single was a cover version of Duran Duran's 1993 song "Ordinary World." It was well received and further helped the band get on the radar of people who would not usually listen to acts like RUST. "Ordinary World" was also the first RUST song for which a music video was created. RUST toured extensively in Finland in 2004, but the highlight of the year was the two concerts they played at the international festival in Washington D.C.
The band's 2004 debut album "Softly" saw RUST dubbed "one of the best newcomers in the rock scene of the year" as the album reached the Top 50 on the official Finnish album chart and received excellent reviews in the European music press and webzines.
The band's sophomore album entitled "Songs Of Suffocation" was released in 2006. The album included the single "Away" that reached number 2 on the official Finnish Top 20 singles chart. The album was critically acclaimed, winning RUST new fans.
In 2007 RUST released an EP called "SCARS."The EP received raving reviews from fans.
RUST are currently working on new songs for their third album.
