Sweet Jane's origins lie in early 2007, Sweet Jane are Danda & Lydia - it all began when Danda heard Lydia sing, and asked her to demo on some home-recordings he was working on. From there, they started playing along various friends and since then, they have formed into one of the most exciting new bands on the Irish Music Scene.
The last 12 months has seen them tour furiously throughout the UK & Ireland, gaining riveting live reviews and media exposure along the way, and seeing them appear of on numerous 'Best of 2008' & 'Ones to watch for 2009' end of year polls.
Shows over the past year have seen them play festivals such as LONDONS CALLING, INDIE-PENDANCE, GREEN GATHERING, INDIE WEEK to name but a few & also saw them tour alongside GLASVEGAS, BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB, THE KILLS, THE DUKE SPIRIT & A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS, and more recently Alan Mc Gee & BP Fallon took them along for the ride on their infamous DEATH DISCO tour.
Their live show could only be described as an energetic roller coaster of sleazy guitars, achingly sexy vocals, topped off with their trade mark droned out dream-pop rock 'n roll.
In October 2008 they released their debut 5-track EP 'Blackboots & Blackhearts' through Dead Flower Records & RMG Distribution, recorded in Dublin, Ireland and mixed in Philadelphia, USA by Ryan Van Kriedt (Zaza, The Asteroid No.4, Sunsplit) - The EP received an extremly warm welcome from various media outlets & the tres-important blog-world.
Sweet Jane are currently knee deep in demo recording's for their long-awaited first full length studio album due for release towards the start of 2010, the release will be accompanied with a strong touring schedule to which they know so well & should keep them sweetly occupied & content for the forthcoming months.
If you only set your ears on one band this year - we recommend that band is SWEET JANE
