Born in San Francisco on July 17, 1928; His first recordings were in the early 50's with The Cal Tjader Trio. By 1955, Guaraldi had put together his own trio which can be heard in various incarnations on his records and film/television work. Though he was best known for composing the music for the Charlie Brown holiday specials, he was an award-winning jazz pianist and composer prior to the Peanuts series. .... Guaraldi's 'Cast Your Fate To The Wind' won a Grammy for Best Original Jazz Composition. The track appears on the 1962 album 'Jazz Impressions of Black Orpheus', inspired by the Brazilian film 'Black Orpheus'. .... Vince Guaraldi has over 25 records to his own name and has made countless appearances as a sideman. His son, David continues to produce albums from his father's vast collection of unreleased material. These albums have been released on D&D records, a label founded by Vince before his death in 1976.
