To understand how Way Of Life came to be, we need to take you to Windsor, Ontario back in the summer of 1997 when vocalist Michael Green first met up with guitarist Nathan Walstedt. Music was an obvious common ground and the two immediately hit it off and began a project together. Playing a mixture of covers and originals they had written, they performed locally with a number of different line-ups before finally going their separate ways after Nathan received an offer to join another group.
Green didnt have to look far for another guitarist. He overheard Nathans younger brother, guitarist Shawn Walstedt playing in the next room. Shawn, who was pre-dominantly a pianist up to this point, gave Green a tape with him soloing on it and Way Of Life was born!
The pair started to write seriously after an attempt with a cover band had failed. In just a few months they had an albums worth of material to shop around to other local musicians.
Finally in 2004, Way Of Life performed their first series of shows at local bars and clubs. When in early 2005 Green stressed to Shawn that he was unhappy with the current line-up, Shawn jumped at the opportunity to ask his older brother Nathan to join.
Nathan by now was an accomplished guitarist and music teacher and accepted the offer to play alongside his brother and to re-form with Green. The three-piece then set out to complete the line-up.
Within a few days, Shawn received a call from bassist Dennis Fox. Fox had played drums, sang lead vocal, and played bass mainly in cover bands. He was looking for something with a future. Something with originality. Something real. When he met up with Green and was given a copy of their demo, Fox had finally found what he was searching for. Within an hour of listening to the CD, he called Green to say he definitely wanted to be involved.
Enter drummer Andrew Jarvis who contacted the band through the internet when he saw that they had a wanted add for a new drummer. Jarvis had spent his entire life playing drums and percussion in a variety of different projects. This was finally his chance to be involved in something solid and progressive. Thus, the Way Of Life line-up was complete. Within a few short weeks, the band were already playing their first shows.
Consisting of highly talented and skilled musicians, Way Of Life are one of the most exciting and dynamic attractions around. Their uniquely crafted songs, aligned with an inimitable wall of sound, have swept all before them, rightfully triggering a huge response from those who know the real thing when it comes along.
£leTriKa sounds completely different from any Metal band you have ever heard. The Brazilian rhythms and the Portuguese language added to the songs makes its style unique, giving birth to a new kind of Metal. If you are really looking for something new about Metal, you should check £leTriKa out!
