Rebecca Robyns; UK born Chanteuse, began studying Classical music/Singing/Double Bass and Piano at the age of 8. Studied jazz singing in New York City with Martin St Lawrence, who worked previously with such legends as Frank Sinatra and Peggy Lee, Martin was a huge influence on me and was also a "lifesaver" helping me to find my sound and encouraging me to write my own material. Whilst studying in NYC, I met Myztico and formed a collaboration together working on various projects implementing an eclectic jazz vibe to Electronica, TripHop, and Ambient soundscapes. We founded the UK based Jazz/Funk band "R'EYA" in the autumn of 2007 playing the local northeast band circuit. Rebecca is also part of the Jazz duo w/Pete Cox known as "Bandiqui". She is currently putting the final touches "OFF The GRID" debut cd, and touring the UK circuit in support of the cd. www.myspace.com/rebeccarobyns72
John Cox; Hull - UK born singer/songwriter/instrumentalist/producer started writing songs influenced by David Bowie and Steve Harley at about 15 years of age. He formed the post punk band ‘Clox’ in the early eighties who had Radio 1 airplay with their first single, ‘Looking The Part’ on the John Peel, Kid Jensen and Peter Powell shows. This band then became a recording vehicle and eventually morphed into ‘Unstable’ featuring Tiff Lacey on lead vocals, and in the mid nineties released a song ‘Anti Social’ which became a popular student radio song and reached number 6 in the national Student Radio Chart.
Currently John sings & plays acoustic guitar with lead guitarist big brother Pete as 'COX BROTHERS', and of course is a founding member of 'OFF the GRID'. Last year, 2008, he produced his first solo album 'New Moon', and has also produced albums recently for Val Marshall who has received Radio 2 airplay on the Bob Harris show. Oh my my! What a fabulous album people! I had it on twice in a row the other night, I love it so much! So inspiring - I'll be playing it to everyone I know!
Fantastic gig at the Green Dragon on Saturday - thanks for inviting us - a fab night was had by all. Love the new Dirty Secret song. You guys looked like you really had fun while you were playing. I'm so gutted at the moment as I've waited eagerly to listen to your CD but as I've just moved house, I haven't been able to play your CD yet - all I have is my iPod! That shall be remedied tonight however, when I shall have access to a CD player. Dying to hear it! Thanks again folks - and you'll be one of the first to get a copy of our CD when it's ready.
Off The Grid...literally blown away. A great party and your performance last night was clearly a statment of intent. Loving the CD ( No 1 in series) and a real pleasure to know you guys and have you as friends.
Thanks for the great night tonight - good luck with the your part in One Foundation - I'll do my bit to get word around about the band and the cause. Really looking forward to listening to and reviewing the CD.
So pleased Tico's graphic was on the CD cover - may have to frame it!
You know... amidst all the insecurity that's been occuring in my neck of the woods.. I finally sat down to give this site a proper listen. And.. it seems to have an interesting, and personally noticeable quality that would work really well, particularly at the smaller established mature venues. Room for keyboards/occasional drum machine..? But 3 guitarists and no bass... Mmnn..? - Catch you later, Tim x
