I don't think I sound like anyone in particular, I've heard that when I sing certain songs a hint of some of my favorites can be heard but I'd like to think that I have taken what I learnd listening to people like Billy, Carmen, Ella, Betty, Shirley and Sarah and found myself in the mix
Oghale Arrived in Seattle, Washington, by way of Lagos, Nigeria, her first introduction to music was with the cello in her middle school string ensemble. Soon after dabbling in instrumental classical music she decided to try out her voice. She auditioned for her high school vocal jazz ensemble and found her calling. From then on Jazz Music and Singing would guide her footsteps forward in life, attending workshops and singing for benefits and weddings. She was able to mingle and work with some genuine jazz veterans some who, to this day, remain her mentors and good friends. Jay Clayton, Nancy King, Edmonia Jarred, Milo Peterson Darin Clendenin, Clipper Anderson and Greta Matassa to mention a few. Jazz propelled her to Atlanta, GA to test her chops in the East Coast; it was there she came across an array of up and coming artists as well as some old school cats that took her to her next wonderful level of expression. She is a natural on stage, her presence exudes a sweet and confident coyness that is well contrasted by her surprisingly strong rich but clear tone. Paying respects to both the traditional jazz vocal styling as well as the contemporary energy, she still displays her own unique approach. Oghale is truly a captivating vocalist, when she sings there is a power that resonates deep inside and comes from a time far older then she.
