About me:
..
"Hey, d'you have a MySpace?" my ex-brother-in-law asks as I'm walking him out to the student parking lot at his school.
"No, why?" I answer, just a little twitchy at the question I've heard no fewer than twenty times now from various sources.
"Dude! You need to get one!"
"Why? I've got a
Livejournal."
"BAHHH, Nobody goes to Livejournal anymore."
"What?
I go to Livejour--"
"But BANDS don't. C'mon."
"BANDS don't, usually, no, but people who think in longer-than-five-second bursts do. Meanwhile, MySpace boasts college kids and Ron Jeremy looking for the love of his life. C'mon yourself."
"Hey! I've got a longer-than-five-minute attention span! And anyway, Disturbed and Tom Petty have MySpaces."
"Mr. 'Sell your computer, buy a guitar'? I'll believe it when I see it. Petty hated the net, back in the day."
"You should come look. Hey! Here's my friends. Everybody, this is Jess, my... ex...sister-in-law..." Just for a second we all marvel at how long a title that is, and I miss when he'd call me his sister; he feels like the little brother I always wanted and I miss him.
The girls descend like seagulls on the box of candy he's carrying; I'm forgotten.
Elapsed time?
Five-point-one minutes.
But I've got a few friends with MySpace accounts, and
they're sane enough in realtime...
So here I am.
Who I'd like to meet:
anybody, honestly; I'm a magpie for strangers and their stories.

Starring the sultry Robert Pattinson of Twilight fame as artist Salvador Dali and heartthrob Javier Beltran as writer Federico Garcia-Lorca, Little Ashes is one of the year's most anticipated films.
In the midst of the repression and political unrest of pre-Spanish Civil War, eccentric artist Salvador Dali and renowned poet and revolutionary Federico Garcia Lorca find their artistic and sexual freedom. The two form a bond challenged by their fierce ambitions, their friends, the struggle between a love for Spain and a love for each other.

A Birmingham SHOUT Fundraiser
Set in an all-male school, the story follows Timothy who suffers the wrath of his homophobic classmates. He withdraws into his imagination where macho rugby players morph into dancing fairies decked in go-go boy attire. When asked to star in the school play he first balks at acting. As Timothy eventually embraces the mischievous character of Puck, he finds the secret to a magical pansy that seems to turn people gay! He then puckishly imposes a new reality by turning much of his narrow-minded town gay, beginning with the rugby-jock of his dreams.

thanks for your blog comments... i'm behind, but i'm getting there.
stiff drink?
i'm not pregnant; bring it on.
i don't even drink, but hell, i may start. :)
and re: manicure... two answers.
Reason #1 -- it's easy to have neat nails when THEY ARE ALL YOU CAN REACH. between bedrest, not being able to bend over, and the absolute dredges of sheer human boredom, i was polishing them six and seven different times a day. they just happened to be pink at the hour it was time to make my way to the doc's office.
Reason # 2 -- us newly fat girls gotta have something.
makes us work harder. ;)
and yes, the nurses thought the manicure on the unshowered invalid was hysterical, too... i heard two of them talking once when they thought i was asleep.
glad to be so entertaining to the masses, lol! that's all i've ever wanted.

it is certainly indicative of his writing style, at the very least. if you haven't, you should check them out. he writes good "lines."
