Christian music that transcends the sticky-sweet easy-listening stereotype. That's not to say, however, that you won't find ALL types of musicians on my friends list. I also enjoy maintaining my 33 acres of woods, field, pond, etc. in a people-friendly manner.
Music
I used to be an old-school classic rock lover: Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Deep Purple, Beatles, King Crimson, Moody Blues, ZZ Top and so on.
My favorites are now Christian or "clean" bands/artists, but still lean toward a classic rock sound. Favorite bands/artists include, but are definitely not limited to: Larry Norman, Ashley Cleveland, Steve Taylor, Eowyn, Audio Adrenaline, Newsboys, ApologetiX, Skillet, Newworldson, New Jerusalem, Glass Harp, Starflyer 59, Michael Knott, Lifesavers, Seventh Angel, Sarah Masen, Believable Picnic, Clear, Waterdeep, Everlife, Cadet, Soulfood 76, Bumblepuppy, Wahba, Paisley Yankolovich, Raging Grace, Paige, Jaci Velasquez, Fusebox, Disciple, Trisha Eros, Global Wave System, Miss Angie, Big Tent Revival, Ginny Owens, T-Bone, Sackcloth Fashion, Joy Williams, 4th Avenue Jones, Bride, Dale Thompson and the Kentucky Cadillacs, Paul Wright, Rock and Roll Worship Circus, The Choir, Adam Again, The Listening, Jeni Varnadeau, Guardian, Plumb, Aleixa, Terry Taylor, Lost Dogs, Big Al Cherry, Saving Jane, Tait, Matthew West, Hot Pink Turtle, Christine Glass, Gretchen, Todd Agnew, Dead Artist Syndrome, The Benjamin Gate, The Clumsy Lovers, Charlie Peacock, The Swirling Eddies, The Choir, G.S.Megaphone, Elder, Grammatrain, Jessica McLean, Charity Von, Breaking the Silence, Chevelle, Pillar, Hokus Pick, P.F.R., SHEL, JJ Heller, Third Day, Cloudchase, Superchick, Alice Cooper (his more recent stuff), Inner Flame, Thelma's Dog, Empty Tomb --now called The Recycled, Christian County Overflow, Ashley Reynolds. And, of course, Chuck Holland!
Movies
Veggie Tales, Labyrinth, Princess Bride, Tenth Kingdom, Monsters Inc., Harry Potter, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, The Second Chance, almost any Monty Python, and other relatively clean comedies and stuff.
Television
Only stuff I can put in a DVD or video player. I've been without cable, antenna, or satellite dish since 2000, and love it! I don't see how people have time for television anymore. OK -on DVD: Monk, Dr. Who, 7th Heaven, Light family stuff or comedy. WW II documentaries like Hogan's Heroes, early American industrial period and westward expansion documentaries like F-Troop --you know, intellectual stuff like that.
Books
Of course, the Holy Bible (Old and New Testaments only, and NOT those denomination-peculiar translations like "New World" or "Inspired", or added "testaments"). Then there's 1066 and All That and Bach, Beethoven and the Boys. Of course, I like upper-midwest (USA) regional humor. Favorite author: Patrick McManus.
Heroes
Jesus, and Paul (the Biblical Jesus and Paul). Jesus: So perfect and lovable He made all the religious leaders mad. So loving He accepts anyone who accepts Him. Paul: Fanatic Christian-hunter, until Jesus had a little talk with him in Acts 9. Wow! Don't let an ugly past keep you from serving Jesus!

About me: Suburban Minneapolis boy. Did 20 years in USAF. Retired to central Missouri. WOW! I've changed since high school! Who'd a thunk it? Married once and continuously in 1981. After being a partying hedonist, I got saved by Jesus, became a junior high (of all ages!) youth group leader and deacon in a church, got a Master's degree in history, working at a public library, two grown kids, and even own my own place --with woods, field and pond and two houses. I've been extremely blessed! If you were to ask my old friends if I'm the same Paul they knew, they'd likely say, "Not even close!"
I'm a Christian music enthusiast who's discovered that Christian music is NOT all that syrupy-sweet soft and easy, bright and cheery stuff you normally hear on the radio. And it's not the second rate stuff by people who couldn't make it in the mainstream like lots of it used to be. Ask me about it. I'd love to help get you into it too. It's gone quite a way to change my life. After all, you do become what you fill your head with.
Christian rock is great, but Jesus is THE Rock!
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone who wants to share Christian music info, ideas, etc. And, of course, Jesus, but to me, that's a no-brainer.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and check out our music ministry. We appreciate your support and are glad you liked what you heard. Check out Our new CD,"Love God".
Nice to meet you Paul and thank you! I really appreciate you taking the time to listen. I love that "Praise On" got you smiling, me too! :-) I enjoyed reading your page and I will have to go through and listen to some of your friends music. You obviously have good taste lol. Please keep in touch and I will too :-) God Bless You! Kelly
I can't believe they let me drive like that! But, I had no other way to get home. Either way, God really had His hand on me! I know that's the only reason I made it home safely! :D
Thanks a lot Paul! There sure has been too much division throughout history, which is really sad. At the end of the day, we are all one body in Christ :) Thanks for the comment mate!

Galatians 6:3-8 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden. Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Just wanted to let you know about the new material that we have up on The Waking this week:
Two personal blogs, one of which is a very honest and powerful look into struggles and addictions ("Looking Back and Moving On"), an artist interview with Brooks Paschal, the former lead singer of Sullivan, and two album reviews for Thousand Foot Krutch's and MuteMath's latest!
Feel free to check it out and thank you so much for your support! :)
Thanks for the add, Paul... We really missed not playing at Nehemiah, with Josh getting sick and all, but by God's grace we'll be there next year. Good to meet another big Steve Taylor and Apologetix fan. And a Python fan...did you get the reference to ...very small rocks?... Peace and love to you. Hope to see you at D-MAsk-Us sometime soon...mike and the boys.
Thanks for being a friend and checking out our music. Hope you enjoyed Nehemiah Festival. I know we did and we look forward to coming back next year. Hope to see you there.
Hey Paul, thanks for the request and the blog comment! It's always fun to talk to other people who remember those artists. I still pull out those cds from time to time. Thanks for reading and please visit often. :)
