ATAC's Founder Member, Michael Coard will be a guest on The Pan-Africa Show this Friday, June 27 at 10:00 a.m. on WURD900-AM to discuss ATAC's July 3 Black Independence Day Celebration.
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As you know, Avenging The Ancestors Coalition (ATAC) is one of the organizations that led the successful battle to force the federal government to commemorate the nine African descendants enslaved by President George Washington at America's first 'White House,' which was here in Philadelphia at the current site of the new Liberty Bell Center at Sixth and Market. Each year since 2002 on July 3 during its Black Independence Day events, ATAC has held protests and other demonstrations to demand and support a slavery commemoration. And we recently won! ATAC now invites you to attend its annual July 3 Black Independence Day event at 4:30 p.m. at Sixth and Market. The purpose this year is to celebrate the upcoming construction of the Slavery Commemoration project. For more information, please refer to the attached flyer. As part of that celebration, ATAC will present a re-enactment of the lives of those nine enslaved ancestors. In addition, ATAC has invited Mayor Michael Nutter, former Mayor John Street, Congressman Chaka Fattah, Congressman Bob Brady, and City Councilperson Blondell Reynolds Brown to speak in support of this absolutely historic Slavery Commemoration project. Please spread the word, and please attend.
Sincerely, Michael Coard c/o Avenging The Ancestors Coalition (ATAC) 215/552-8751

TO ALL ILLADELPH HIP HOP HEADS:
*Tired of commercialized rap? Fed up with “bling bling?” Heard enough of brothers trying to be “thug niggas” and sisters wanting to be “gangsta bitches?”
*I know you are, and I know you appreciate real lyricism as manifested in tight flows, oral dexterity, off-the-head freestyling, battle rhyming, skillful writing, and creative head-noddin’ beats- all with a culturally conscious foundation.
*And I know you understand that in order for the lyricism to be serious, then that lyricism- as expressed originally and primarily by Black/Brown skinned youth or Black/Brown thinking youth- must be based on experience, talent, and respect for the Hip Hop originators who started this shit. *If you’re down with this kind of lyricism (as well as with the deejay, the breaker, and the graf writer, etc.),
then sign up for the HIP HOP 101 course at Temple University’s Pan African Studies Community Education Program (PASCEP). In the course, we will start with the history of Hip Hop by giving much deserved and long overdue props to the Bronx pioneers. We also will listen to, discuss, debate, and critique the works of such verbal geniuses like Army of The Pharaohs (featuring Bahamadia, Chief Kamachi, Jedi Mind Tricks w/ Ikon The Hologram aka Vinni

Michael Coard, Esquire will debate cops, politicians, and others about the case of Mumia Abu-Jamal.
Attorney Coard will make it crystal clear that Mumia is not only "legally not guilty" (which means that the prosecution didn't prove it) but also that Mumia is "factually innocent" (which means that he didn't do it).
