I found this blog in Leonard Peltier's myspace page and it is a wonderful idea. I have already cast my vote:
There's a movement of citizens inspired by the presidential campaign who are now submitting ideas for how they think the Obama Administration should change America. It's called "Ideas for Change in America." One idea already submitted is an award of clemency for Leonard Peltier. We thought you might be interested in getting involved and recommend you check it out. You can read more and vote for the idea by clicking the following link:
Ultimately, the top 10 ideas are going to be presented to the Obama Administration on Inauguration Day and ***will be supported by a national lobbying campaign by Change.org, MySpace, and more than a dozen leading nonprofits*** after the Inauguration. So this idea has a REAL chance at becoming policy.
Visit the link and support the idea with a "YES" vote. You also can send an e-mail alert to friends or share this idea on MySpace, Facebook, etc., using various tools available on the same page.
We can't let this opportunity pass us by. It takes a couple of minutes to vote. Don't wait. Do it now.
Thank you for everything you do on Leonard's behalf.
My mom, Toni Joyce Balcerak, passed away at 4:30am on Halloween morning from an asthma attack. Her health had been declining the past couple months and it finally caught up with her; she was only 52 years old. She raised me to value my education, to be accepting of everyone, and how important it is to be a strong woman. I miss her so much, this doesn't seem real.
If you would like to join us for her viewing, we will be at Schimunek's Funeral Home on Sunday, at Route 24 in Belair, just across the street from Upper Chesapeake Hospital. There will be two viewings, one from 3pm to 4pm and another from 7pm to 9pm. My mother is being cremated, but we will first have a ceremony, also at the funeral home on Monday morning at 11. Afterwards, we will have a reception at our home; if you do not know our address or haven't visited in a long time, feel free to ask for the address. Mom always said she didn't want a funeral, but a party- help us celebrate her life.
Though we do appreciate your flowers, we encourage everyone to make a donation to the Humane Society. The address is:
Humane Society of Harford County Inc
2208 Connolly rd.
Fallston, MD 21047
Feel free to donate to your local shelter instead, this one in particular does not euthanise. My mom loved her adopted cats and all the other little critters; we feel this is an appropriate way to remember her.
My father has also requested for our loving friends to hold off on sending us anymore food for the time being, we cannot fit anymore stuff into the fridge. He says to "give us a week or so." Thank you so much to everyone for reaching out to us in this especially difficult time, we love you all so much.
