Oklahoma Artist Huntley Durell at OKC StorySLAM 22 May 2009 from Ralph Petrosky on Vimeo.

Oklahoma Artist Huntley Durell's storytelling performance at  OKC StorySlam 22 May 2009.  The stroy telling event is sponsored and hosted by Istvan Gallery @ Urban Art.  The OKC StorySLAM is an ongoing event. Each StorySlam has a theme and anyone can participate by showing up at the StorySlam and signing up to tell their story.  Istvan Gallery at Urban Art features the work of emerging and established Oklahoma artists in an atmosphere designed to be comfortable for art collectors as well as art lovers who might otherwise be intimidated by the idea of visiting an art gallery. It is a space where the public can enjoy and understand art.  Istvan Gallery believes art comes in every form, so they serve as host to Story Slams, Film and Video viewings, Poetry Readings and other community events. SPAMED! Can you ever forgive me? If so, please vote for me! I am in Round Two of The TRCoA Unsigned Artist Competition. Help me get to Round Three by clicking my face and voting for me! If I’m in the top 4 I get to play a showcase for record executives and could win 100 free hours in the studio. If I were selected, it would really help me rock some faces off, please take a second and vote.
Thanks! -Ted Hadji

Dear OKC slam tribe !

Shame I haven't yet had the time
To let you know what, to us, matters :
Here's who we are, in a few words,
Or should I say, in a few letters ...

"Le Slamophone is a tribute
To this one lesson we've been missing
To these slam poets who remind us
To get along, we need to listen ..."

I've been daydreaming about my upcoming storyline. Tonight it hit suddenly hit me like a Gator linebacker....my OU friends are all in low places this week!!! ;)

ANYWAYS...I want to let you know that Steve Poltz, the singer/songwriter at Wintertales, will be at the Blue Door on Jan. 22nd. He is one of the best storytellers I have ever heard, great entertainer.

Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma loves you! Your support helps us feed hungry bellies every day. In 2008 alone, the Food Bank distributed 25 million pounds of food, enough to feed 63,600 Oklahomans every week! With any luck, hip folks like you who donate, volunteer and hold food drives will help us grow in the years to come, and feed more hungry bellies. Go to www. regionalfoodbank. org, or message me to learn more about how you can help.

HO, HO, HO – give to IAO!

Happy holidays, art lovers! This season, don’t forget to treat yourself to the delicious pleasures of contemporary art at IAO! For about the price of a jug of holiday ‘nog, we’ll make sure that you don’t have to travel to Mars and back to see mind blowing art. And, we’re not quite as fattening as eggnog.
IAO membership is cheaper than just one of your favorite ‘Frappalatteccinospresso’s, only $3 a month, or $35 per year, and IAO can guarantee that we won’t scald the roof of your mouth!

Seriously, you have that much change in the ashtray of your car, don’t you?

Please sign up online with Paypal right here, right now and you’ll help insure that local artists have the support they need; you don’t have to be an artist, you just have to care about helping to make sure that Oklahoma is a great place to live!

Sign up in the next fifteen minutes and your membership will include a shiny, free gift—a fresh box of immense self-satisfaction!

Check out IAO’s events and exhibits by visiting www. iaogallery. org, or on MySpace at www. myspace. com/iaogallery.

Dear Wisdom Speakers,
Real nice to meet you !

Paths cross and bridges grow, no doubt,
Meanwhile, you might want to know what
This Slamophone trip is about.

It all started with the idea
Poetry's too live, too diverse,
each syllable - unsellable,
every ephemerical verse
being too fierce to be coerced
Speech is the one right we have left
Tongue slamming, spinning,
tables turning,
and France cannot be left for deaf.

So with a camera in hand,
we've taken the country by storm
videalistic is the spirit,
originality the norm.
We started out with 50 vids,
now we are up to 360,
from Montreal down to Marseille,
from Pointe-à-Pitre to Gai Paree.

Take any door and come on in.
Be curious, you will be served :
360 clips around our way,
360 clicks around the word …

Come On In
Sarge
