Heroes
BERNARR MACFADDEN
FROGS WITHOUT LEGS by Dale Lund
Frogs without legs,
Worlds without space,
Birds without wings,
A clock with no face,
Money without value,
Fire without heat,
Thunder without lightning,
A chair with no seat,
A choir without music,
A car without gas,
A tree without growth,
A king with no class,
A storm without shelter,
A swan with no neck,
A pen without paper,
A ship with no deck,
A child without birth,
A reel with no rod,
A man without love,
A man without God.
CHEESE Mildew is the reason For putting all the cheese in Air-tight things like Tupperware, As if we had the cash to spare; For Tupperware is not too cheap And folks have cheese they cannot keep, If not for other plastic things For which some people pawn their rings. The moral of all this is this: If cheese is something you'll not miss, You might as well just save your cash And learn to live on corn-beef hash.
SHAKESPEARE "To be, or not to be";
That is the answer,
When someone asks you what precedes
"That is the question."
It may be that Shakespeare's writings might turn some folks on,
But for me they're an inhibitor of hunger and digestion.
It's like the King James Bible,
Where poetry is flaunted,
But the phrase "I shall not want"
Sounds like the Shepherd is not wanted.
Perhaps the reason we fall back
On these great words of long ago
Is that these writings are time-tested
Versus what we don't yet know.
Just who's to say that when your
Great-great grandson's very old,
The writings of your neighbor
Won't be worth their weight in gold?
So next time the codger's screaming
That it's time you mow your lawn,
Appreciate the fact that
He might later turn folks on.

Clutching to his winsome ditty,
He plunders o'er the field with pity
To seek the dull and seek the witty,
But never shall he find them.
For forty floors above the earth,
The bigwigs tally up their dearth
Of all the purpose since their birth,
And leave it all behind them.
With papers strewn about their files
And heaped in out-of-order piles,
They lean against their restroom tiles
And force the world to mind them.
And so the bard forsakes his plunder,
All his works are trashed asunder
On the ground he's buried under
And nobody has signed them.
-----Dale Lund - March 22, 2008
I live in the Missouri Ozarks, but miss western Washington State, having lived in Everett, Blaine, Allen (north of Burlington), Sultan, Lake Stevens, Bellingham, and Camano Island, having had a paper route in Sedro Woolley, having lived off blueberries for three days on the peak of Mount Higgins near Oso, and having gone deep-water fishing in Utsalady Bay. In 1968, during my first leave home from the Army, I attended the Sky River Rock Festival and Lighter Than Air Fair. I'm a postman, working under impeding management for over 20 years. I met Micki in 1975, knew her for 2 months, our engagement was 10 days. For the first six months of our marriage, a motorcycle was our only transportation, and for the first year of our marriage we lived in an 8x12-foot cabin in the woods with no utilities. We've now been married over 34 years and have six kids and two grandsons. I saved a woman's life while I was in elementary school, and I myself have had my life saved at least seven times--once from trachial bronchitis, once from choking, twice from drowning, twice from falling off a cliff, and once from carbon monoxide poisoning. After deserting from the Army and getting arrested and brought back, I was put in nuclear weapons maintenance at Camp Ames in South Korea. I hitchhiked across the U.S. several times--the last time with my wife and baby. The last four of our six kids were born at home, underwater, and our youngest was born without even the assistance of a midwife. We weighed her in the vegetable scale at the local supermarket. We lived in a nudist camp for 2 1/2 years. I'm the author of All About Tarantulas (TFH Pub., 1977), and translated the entire Old Testament into a 850-word, easy-to-read vocabulary, for Christian Literature International (The New Life version). The son of a Methodist minister who instilled in me a religious sense, I am now Roman Catholic. I have just finished reading in order every Pulitzer Prize winning fiction book from the year of my birth to the present.
Who I'd like to meet: You.
The eye of the storm is peaceful and calm,
The spirit's the eye of the soul;
And if we let emotions rule
They're bound to take their toll.
But if we hear the "still, small voice,"
And give heed to our will's appealing,
How absurd can our existence be
When we feel how we don't feel like feeling.

Flebus is my all-time favorite character!....
Because I give
Who gave me life
My life to direct,
I'd be idolatrous
To be politically correct.

Nice offer Dale.. 250 would be great but... you know. Hope you all are doin fine. Remember.. Washington doesn't have all that weird weather. Maybe the big earthquake some day but thats about it. Oh, and Boeing strikers.. lol
Hi Dale, I had a great time, too! You and your family are awesome! Anytime you're up to something like that again, let me know. Did you see, I finally got my music player all worked out! So how is work? Glad I don't have to be there ha,ha. Have a wonderful weekend!!
The first day of spring, my heart sings, for today is the day we celebrate your birth, and this year all the planets align so that we also begin the Holy Tridium, with the instituting of the Eucharist. Wow what a beautiful day! Speaking of beauty, you are a Human Sparkler. When I soul-traveled with a college friend I encountered you smiling at me with that large soft full mischievous mouth, and those deep sea green eyes that twinkle with the eternal light and gave me a wink of recognizing love. We held hands, and the coffee shop was all the universe around us. You started the largest game of hide and seek. Could I find you (the Angels gave me aid) when 3 months later I left my home in California and the promise of a happy marriage and faced a lifetime of insecurities to venture into the unknown, to the maginal forests of the Pacific Northwest with the threat of man-eating Bigfoot? Everyday I walked the streets with unease and longing, constantly alert to the musings of the place behind the veil. Were you here or there? How could I touch you in this world? When the family took a ride through the forest, the sense of you fell on my back in the quick changes of sunlight and shadow that danced through the mighty ceadars on the Sultan Basin Road as the car sped along. And when we stopped for food at Boondockers, the feel of what belonged to my experience permeated the restaurant so intently that I was glad for the smell of fried potatoes and thick meaty cheeseburgers that I could sink my teeth into and enjoy the refreshment because of its good flavor that I could trust... Well, after weeks of agony and a few trips into the astral plain where demons taunted me and tried my faith, you rescued me by showing up at my door! Soon I left that unfaithful lover and married you under an arch of lilacs and snowballs and towering cedars, with your father as minister, more than 32 happy years ago!
Hi Dale, Once again, I am so sorry for your loss. I wanted to hug you Tuesday morning when you came back to work. I'm not really sure why I didn't. That was so inconsiderate of me... For whatever reason, I feel guilty and sad about it. And for what it's worth, I was there for you spiritually. I really hope you are feeling better and again, apologize for my insensitivity. Please don't think I didn't care - See you tomorrow? -Lynnette
. I can't believe I was limited in my expression of my love and joy with you. I was trying to thank you for becoming one flesh with me and allowing me to celebrate the fall down the rabbit hole for 32 years, you have kept me blushing like a new bride. I love you!!!!
I remember sitting on the hill with you in Lake Stevens and the feel and smell of the dirt and forest ferns and redwoods and the sense of pivouting on the edge this world and the next when we asked for each others companionship and trust and understood the transforming mind blowing venture we had entered that day and thru the next when we exchanged our vows beneath the giant cedars and lilacs. When we held hands to steady the way we shook with the awareness of gazing into each other's eyes and experiencing the transforming union of you and I and God. You have promised to accompany me and be my companion and you have done that thru the everyday common moments and all the unbelieveable spaces
