Formed in 1975 as an acoustic duo, Dave and Jack (Dave Wight & Jack Bordo) played cover music, which included The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel , America etc. as well as a ton of original music. The duo eventually evolved into a trio etc..by adding some old friends who played together in high school (Paul Moran & Billy Saar), hence the name Old Friends. From that time many new members have joined us....Mary Cadden Moran, Chris Dellecave, Larry Zick, Dave Pliske, Dave Kester, Wade Rose, Eddie K, Carl Breese. Our current band members can be found in members area.
Our longevity and appeal over the years is partially due to our use of many unique instruments, which include gut bucket, washboard, harmonica, 5- string banjo, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass and drums.
In the past 28 years, we have released 2 albums as a group, Old Friends in 1982 which includes many original songs by Mary Cadden Moran and Larry Zick. Then, Old Friends 20 Years in 1995, with Wade Rose on Lead Vocals. And currently we have a re-release of our 1982 album on CD as Old Friends 2002.
Our music today consists of a variety of music mainly consisting of Bluegrass, Folk, Rock, Southern Rock, Country and Swing, played in often in our own arrangement and style.
Old Friends can be found playing in Northeastern PA at private parties, clubs and Summer/Fall festivals. In the past we have played in clubs in New York City as well as the Battle of the Bands in Nashville.
Our goal is to keep the circle of music unbroken.
