Old Montana State Prison

Along with the Prison we have three other museums all located within walking distance, two of which are only open during our Summer season. Yesterday's Plaything- Montana's foremost doll and toy museum features a collection of Harriet Free. Antique Juneau's and reproduction dolls in full-body porcelain are on display, dolls of Lee Middleton and much more. The collection of doll carriages, prams, and a bed from 1835 are in pristine condition. The Museum continues to display model trains, other dolls, and toys. This is a Summer Seasonal Museum Frontier Montana Museum- "God Created man, but Colt made him equal" is the title on one exhibit case in Frontier Montana. This is the largest collection of handguns, spurs, chaps and all the cowboy collectibles between Cody and Calgary. Old Desert John's Saloon treats visitors to the most complete whisky memorabilia collection in the United States. This is a Summer Seasonal Museum, Desert John's Saloon is an alcohol free saloon. Montana Auto Museum- Rated on the top 10 Auto Museum in the United States by USA Today. Sitting around 150 cars on display from classic Chevy's and muscle cars to a Schacht high wheeler and a 1903 Ford with tonneau and whicker side baskets. Model T's, Model A's, and V-8 Fords are lined up next to a Desoto Airflow, a 1929 Hudson and many more cars of the 20's and 30's. A Chevy Nomad highlights the cars of the 50's. Mustangs, Chevelle SS's, and a Plymouth Barracuda lead an impressive array of muscle cars. A Seagrave Fire Truck, a Diamond T logging truck, Indian Motorcycle, and a Ferrari are a few of the many vehicles that will make a motorhead droll.
